The $90 Sneakers Yara Shahidi Wears With Skinny Jeans

We've always suspected it, but after meeting Yara Shahidi at a Puma event in Los Angeles this week, we can officially confirm that she is, in fact, the coolest and smartest 18-year-old around. (Oh, and did we mention the most stylish, too?)

Shahidi co-hosted Puma's #DoYou event with former Teen Vogue Editor in Chief Elaine Welteroth, where the duo chatted about how they subscribe to Puma's mantra. Per the brand, the #DoYou philosophy "encourages women to be confident, motivated, and uncompromising in every aspect of life, including their style."

For the event, Shahidi chose one of Puma's newest (and coolest) styles: the Suede Bow Sneakers ($90), which we're dying to get our hands on. She kept it casual by pairing them with skinny jeans, a Puma jacket, and a Chanel crossbody bag.

Backstage, we caught up with Shahidi, who shared the importance of mentors in a person's success. "The number one question to ask a mentor is Why? Why do they do what they do? It's important to learn their motivation and find your own motivation." Wise words from an 18-year-old, right? Read on to see what Shahidi wore to the Puma event, and then shop her sneakers below.

Associate Director, Fashion News

Erin got her start as aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing intern over 13 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of Associate Director of Fashion News (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
