Addison Rae's Effortlessly Undone Hair Is a Work of Art—This $28 Product Was Key
There's no doubt that Addison Rae is a beauty influencer in the truest sense. To start, she has her own brand, Item Beauty, and a casual 88.7 million followers on TikTok to share makeup inspo with. Lately, though, she's been stepping into the specific role of hair influencer (to us, at least). Not only was she a driving force behind one of 2022's biggest hair trends—the '90s "fluffy hair" blowout, but her recent red carpet hairstyles have also been equally noteworthy.
Her most recent hairstyle came courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett (whose clients also include the likes of Margot Robbie, Kaia Gerber, and Hailey Bieber). He styled her long, chocolate-brown hair in undone waves and perfected them with a heavy dose of shine. The look itself was inspired by her dress, which was vintage Scherrer Couture from 1998. Keep scrolling to see a step-by-step guide to how he created the look. Plus, see the $28 product that was key to achieving the sleek shine.
Scarlett exclusively used Fekkai products for this look. Starting on Rae's clean hair, he applied a generous amount of this oil-serum hybrid and brushed it through for even application. It's formulated with olive oil and prickly pear extract to give hair a glossy sheen. To us, this is the key to the whole look. The shine is what really elevates her loose waves and makes them red carpet ready.
Then, he sectioned her hair to get ready for the blowout. Before blow-drying each section, though, he applied this volumizing product at the roots for lift. (Fun fact: It promises to restore broken keratin bonds in the hair strands while providing volume.)
Once her hair was completely dry, Scarlett curled it in sections using a 1.25-inch curling iron. While the hair was still warm, he stretched out each wave with his fingers. This was how he achieved that effortless and undone effect.
After curling, he used a boar bristle flat brush to stretch out the waves even further and give them a smooth finish. Then, he misted this texturizing spray from the mid-lengths through the ends of her hair to bring back some separation and movement.
Last but certainly not least, he locked in the style with this hairspray. True to the name, it's a flexible-hold formula, meaning it won't result in any of that dreaded crunchy stiffness.
