I've Done the Research—These Are the 5 Coolest Nail-Art Trends to Try in Autumn
The new season is here, and as much as I love classic autumn nail colours, this year, I'm ready to have some fun with my manicures. That's right, I'm talking about nail art ideas. I've always been one to shy away from more exciting nail designs, opting instead for classic black and deep red colours throughout the colder seasons, but as the end of September draws closer, I feel inspired to switch things up.
That being said, it's no secret that there are about a million and one nail designs to choose from right now. Everything from cat-eye nails to French tips are trending, but what can we expect to see in the upcoming months? Luckily for you, it's my job to stay on top of the latest beauty trends, and I've been doing lots of research into the designs that are set to be big this season. I've been seeing everything from metallic nails to colourful micro French tips, and I'm ready to book an appointment.
So, if like me, you're looking to step out of your comfort zone when it comes to your manicure, keep on scrolling for some seriously cool autumn nail-art ideas to screenshot before your next salon visit. Trust me—these designs will have you running to the salon. New season, new nails, right?
The Top 5 Autumn Nail-Art Trends
1. Metallic Detailing
Metallics are going to be big this season, and this goes for nails too. I've been seeing these silver-and-gold stud designs all over my Instagram feed, and I love how minimal this trend can be. For that stylish, chic look, opt for a subtle approach, like adding metallic studs to one or two nails or trying this cool French-tip nail art.
You can even change the positioning of the studs on each nail for a unique finish. Use a clear, glossy top coat to help tie everything together, and you're good to go.

If you want to give this nail-art trend a go, invest in a kit like this one from Mylee, that comes with all the embellishments you could ever need.
Metallic nail foils would also look super cool.
2. Colourful French Tips
Although French tips are nothing new, I feel like this design has blown up in recent months, with everyone favouring understated nail art. To switch things up a bit, opt for a fun, colourful tip in whatever shade you desire.
Blue and green designs are definitely popular at the moment, but I suspect we will see people favouring slightly darker colours as we move more into winter.

French tips can be hard to do yourself if you'd rather DIY your mani, so why not opt for easy, stick-on nails instead?
3. Chrome Finishes
There's something so stunning about a chrome mani. I've been seeing this trend slowly creep back onto my Instagram feed, and I'm not mad about it. In fact, the hashtag #chromenails currently has over 1 billion views on TikTok and counting. I personally love pale pink and milky white designs, as they still have that fun, shiny finish without clashing with your outfit.
The best bit about this mani? It will be perfect for winter party season too, so no need to change up your nail design every few weeks.

Recently I wrote about how I had been seeing brown nail polish everywhere, and I predict that brown nail art will be huge this autumn too. There are so many different ways to give this trend a go, but this brown French-tip mani is definitely top of my list.
French tips not your thing? Why not try a cool half-and-half design like this one? It's giving me all of the autumnal vibes.

5. Sparkly French Tips
I told you French tips would be popular, and sparkly sets are my new obsession. I practically gasped when I saw this design come up on Instagram. It's giving quiet luxury with a hint of maximalism, and I suspect many a celeb will be giving this a go.
If you want to add a touch of colour, don't be afraid to go for a statement sparkle like this bold blue hue. I love the fact that it's been paired with a soft, milky base, making it pop even more.

Nails Inc. knows what it's doing when it comes to sparkles. Is this not the cutest nail polish you've ever seen?
