My Skin Invents New Ways to Be Dry, But This Angelic Face Tint Makes It Look Like I Get Daily Facials
I’ve been testing it for 43 days straight, and I’ve never gotten more compliments from strangers in my life.
Not to brag, but I’ve spent the last 43 days getting nearly daily compliments on my skin. Strangers in bars tell me how glowy I look, fellow beauty editors ask me what new serum I’m using, and friends poke through my excess products after spotting the juicy shine of my mid-January complexion. No, I’m not telling you this to gloat—I’m informing you of what should be a scientific celebration after my Sahara-dry dermis began rivaling Nam Vo’s dewy dumpling glow once I incorporated the brand-new It Cosmetics Do It All Sheer Tint Face Balm into my daily routine.
Let me start by saying that I have almost every barrier to entry for healthy, hydrated skin right now: a dry skin type (duh), rosacea, and winter-exacerbated eczema flare-ups. (Did I mention that it’s the middle of January?) I got my hands on this little jar at an exclusive preview in early December, where a makeup artist stippled it onto my skin after noticing that I looked a bit dry. She gave me a mirror to peer into as she swept the cooling formula across my face, and I watched, slack-jawed, as the product revived my creased concealer and dehydrated skin into something sumptuous.

From then on, there wasn’t a day that I didn’t use this magical four-in-one balm, and it was easy to stay true. My spendy foundations collected dust as I opted for this face tint for long office days, evening events, holiday parties, and more—earning compliments left and right each time I stepped out the door. And now, I can finally share the $34 secret behind my facial-level glow that even my highest-end foundations couldn’t replicate.
The Formula
First things first, this balm is a whopping 92% skincare. The solid, yet easy-to-blend formula is comprised of a skin-softening and hydration-boosting concoction of hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, and biosynthetic collagen peptides, which are infused with pigment to form the line’s 15 flexible shades. From fair with pink undertones to deep with cool undertones, there’s a bevy of options for everyone to use, and the product can be layered or worn sheer for varying levels of coverage.
As for its four-in-one claims, the brand calls out its uses as a skin tint, face balm, hydrating and serum, and anti-aging agent—but I’d go so far as to add “foundation” to its list of accolades. I’ve personally swapped my face makeup (even concealer, on some days) for this buildable formula, and I’m not looking back until I hit pan.
The balm boasts 24-hour hydration, boosts skin firmness, and, according to a consumer study conducted by the brand, 91% of testers have noticed a reduction in the appearance of their fine lines and wrinkles after continuous use. When my grandma and mom inevitably call me asking for new face makeup recommendations, I won’t hesitate to tell them about this miracle balm.
How to Use
What’s nice about this skin tint balm is that it’s quite user-friendly: simply stipple a brush or beauty sponge into the jar, or pick up the product with your fingers before smoothing it onto your skin. The formula softens upon contact, which makes the solid spread as easily as your favorite serum when you start working it into your skin.
Although I love this product for its supremely hydrating properties, I have found myself using it every day for its texture- and tone-perfecting powers. As aforementioned, I experience rosacea in congested clumps on my cheeks, and this product does wonders to camouflage it while keeping my skin looking like… well, skin.
I’ve tried many different types of face makeup in combination with this product in my 43-day testing process—and while almost everything has played nicely with the formula (save for oil-based moisturizers, which resulted in slight pilling), I’ve found that this combo is a no-fail for natural-looking, glowy, minimalist glam.
This hydrating concealer is packed with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and fermented arnica for extra-nourishing wear and smooth, velvety results. It blends beautifully with the Do It All Balm and adds an extra touch of nourishment.
Merit makes some of our favorite beauty products, and the creamy Flush Balm is top of the list. I like tapping my Hourglass No. 15 Blush Brush onto the bulbous cream blush and stippling it onto my skin—never disturbing the skin tint underneath.
Since I want to preserve the juicy shine of my skin while making my makeup last, I gently sweep this velvet powder foundation from Dior over my T-zone with the fluffy Makeup by Mario F2 Dual-Ended Powder Brush. The sheer, natural look of this powder allows the sheen of my skin to peek through while keeping the product in place all day.
My Results
In short, I’ve deemed the Do It All Balm aptly named. This serum not only hydrates, plumps, and assuages my dry and irritated skin amidst winter flare-ups, but requires very little product to achieve an even skin tone and smooth texture. I was worried about the product’s small size (its 0.63-ounce jar pales in comparison to most liquid skin tints’ one-ounce or more containers), but the minute amount needed to achieve a healthy, hydrated, and problem-solved complexion levels the playing field.
I’ve trusted this product to withstand very long work days that include after-hours brand events, to perfect my skin for professionally photographed holiday parties, and to keep my skin feeling hydrated on days spent wind-whipped by the NYC cold while walking around the city with friends. Every time, it performed.
It’s been 43 days, and I’m already dreading the day that I scrape the last dregs from its glass walls—however, I think the amount inside will take me well into the fall of 2026. But if you thought that’s where my hydrating skin tint and balm recommendations end, you’d be sorely mistaken. This hydrating, pore-blurring, and UV-shielding skin tint from e.l.f. Cosmetics is not only a great SPF-infused multitasker, but it's one of my favorite drugstore buys.
If you're looking for something a bit thicker than the It Cosmetics serum balm, try this skin-loving tinted moisturizer that wears like foundation and protects your skin, too.
WWW senior editor Jamie Schneider and I can't get enough of this silky serum-foundation that really—no, really—looks like skin.
I can't mention tinted balms without sharing one of my first favorites in this category—Makeup by Mario's Softsculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer. I use the shade Medium as a bronzer with the It Cosmetics Balm, and they work so well together, you'd think they were soul sisters.
This foundation stick from Charlotte Tilbury is our top recommendation for glowy, natural-looking skin.
