In this case, less is always more. "I recommend applying freckles after foundation but before heavy powder," says Breitweiser. "Lightly dot across the bridge of the nose and tops of the cheeks where the sun would naturally hit." And if you want that extra natural finish, make sure to vary the freckles in size and spacing. After the initial application, tap them into your skin with your fingertip or a damp sponge to soften any harsh edges.
How to Make Faux Freckles Last
As I mentioned before, no one wants to apply faux freckles just for them to look dull or smudge just a few hours later. If you want to make them last, Breitweiser recommends "Applying them over slightly tacky skin (like over cream blush or before fully setting with powder) so the pigment grabs," she says. "Once blended, lightly set with a translucent powder , but don’t over-matte the skin, because natural freckles usually have a skin-like finish."
If you plan on using freckles for an all-day look, she suggests using a setting spray and pressing it in with a sponge rather than just spraying it on top. This way your freckles are set without the placement getting messed up.
