I'm an Organic Beauty Founder—These Are the Products I Swear By for Youthful, Glowing Skin
The Lineup is a monthly series where we're giving you an inside peek at the beauty lineups of cool fashion people, editors, makeup artists, hairstylists, and estheticians—all the people we trust the most. Get ready for a behind-the-scenes look at all the can't-live-without products that make their worlds go 'round.
Raised on a 100-year-old plum farm in Northern California, Allison Taylor and her siblings Jacqueline and Elaine discovered their love for organic farming and sustainability. Eventually, this love turned into a passion project for the trio that would reach cult-status almost instantly. Beloved by editors and aestheticians alike, it all started with the brand's Plum Beauty Oil($72). I've written the oil my own personal love letter because it's hydrating, calming, and perfect for my acne-prone skin.
The brand started through the use of upcycled byproducts from their family's farm. "The plum seeds were essentially being discarded (which we all agreed was crazy) so we did two and a half years of research on the cold-pressed oil and launched Le Prunier with a single SKU (the oil) in 2018."
A few equally as incredible launches later, Taylor swears by keeping her routine simple and utilizing the healing powers of plum oil regularly. She's also a huge fan of facials and massages, "Specifically, buccal and deep tissue massage," she says. "Monthly Hydrafacials have also been incredible for my skin. I’ve dabbled with Botox around my elevens because I spend so much time in front of the computer and squint a ton despite wearing glasses. I love visiting Bell Yoo at Mimo Aesthetics in L.A. She’s the best. She’s very conservative and I’m really hesitant to do too much beyond that."
Beyond products, Taylor keeps her diet in check and limits caffeine and alcohol to keep her skin in tip top shape. "I believe clear skin starts from the inside and no amount of products will help if your diet is poor. I also recommend working with a functional medicine doctor (I see Dr. Lekkos in L.A.) and he's helped me balance my hormones, get my adrenal fatigue in check, and feel light years better. If you're struggling with acne scars, discoloration, or just general skin tone unevenness, I love a good laser. I typically try to keep my skincare pretty minimal and find that’s what works best."
For all the details on Taylor's favorite cult-loved vitamin C serum, makeup she's sworn by for over 10 years, and her favorite fragrance, keep scrolling. I'm sharing it all ahead.
"Our newest launch is finally here and took nearly three years to create! It’s the first exfoliating mask recognized by the National Eczema Association which we’re so proud to share. It presents as a creamy, lush plum-colored therapeutic mud mask but under the surface it’s so much more. We’ve discovered natural plum enzymes and plum hydroxy acids (AHA, BHA, PHA) in our patented Midnight Muir ingredient which help to gently exfoliate and deeply clarify the skin without stripping or disrupting the microbiome."
"I cannot say enough good things about this line. Dianna truly knocked it out of the park! I spend a lot of time in Colorado and the climate can be extremely damaging to my hair. This leave-in-conditioner has worked wonders and I seriously don’t travel anywhere without it. Aside from the results, I’m obsessed with the scent."
"A friend turned me onto this shampoo and conditioner and I’ve noticed such a difference in the amount of overall body and volume. I have a ton of hair, but it’s really long and fine which means it also gets extremely tangled easily. The conditioner is a godsend because I never struggle to brush my hair out when I’m done showering. It leaves it moisturized but not heavy."
"Roz is such a beautiful line that I've recently fallen in love with. I rarely use hot tools on my hair but occasionally if I’m heading to an event, I’ll do a light curl and this styling oil creates the most gorgeous finish. Highly recommend. Plus, the founder is just a gem and gave me one of the best hair cuts I’ve ever had."
"The texture of this SPF is so elegant and unlike any other SPF I’ve tried. It’s pricey but if you’re looking for a hydrating sunscreen with skincare benefits that even goes so far as to target hyperpigmentation, you’ve found the right product. It has a silky, matte finish that pairs perfectly under makeup. I think of it as my 4-in-1: primer, skincare, moisturizer, and SPF."
