The Essence of an Internet BF: The Beauty Staples That Would (Probably) Spill Out of Our Fave Celebs' Bags

What is the essence of an internet boyfriend? That's the question I found myself asking on an average Tuesday after a conversation withBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing 's beauty director, Erin Jahns. We were discussing the hold that people like Jacob Elordi, Michael B. Jordan, and Pedro Pascal have over the internet. Obviously, there's an element of raw creative talent. (They're not celebrated actors, singers, and performers by accident.) There's also an element of charm. I would also add an air of mystery to the mix, as well as a unique and well-developed sense of style. All of these things contribute to the internet-boyfriend X factor.

At the end of the day, though, we're beauty editors and not psychologists, so we'll never get inside the psyche of our favorite internet boyfriends. However, we can take a more practical, almost anthropological approach by analyzing the beauty and grooming products they keep in their designer bags. Stay with me here, but I postulate that we can learn a lot about a person from their beauty routine.

Once I had my hypothesis, I did what any good beauty editor would do. I polled my colleagues on their favorite A-list actors and performers. Then, with their help, I narrowed down the list to just seven celebs who fit the internet-boyfriend bill the most. (It was difficult, but we did it.) From there, I committed myself to hard-hitting research. Weeks later, I'm pleased to present a culmination of every internet boyfriend approved beauty product I could find, plus a few hunches and educated guesses for good measure. Enjoy.

Jacob Elordi was a shoo-in on this list from the start. In fact, almost every single member ofBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing 's beauty team chose him as part of their top-seven internet boyfriends (myself included). He was one of the more obvious choices. After all, he's been the subject of dedicated fan accounts and in-depth articles ever since he played Noah Flynn in Netflix's The Kissing Booth. After his performances in Euphoria and Saltburn, he became an official internet BF.

He's known for his effortlessly cool and vintage-inspired style, as well as carrying an impressive array of designer bags. One of his favorites, or so it seems, is Bottega Veneta's Padded Cassette Bag, which he's been photographed wearing multiple times.

Now, for the main event—his beauty and grooming products of choice. In an interview with GQ, his hairstylist Amy Komorowski shared a selection of products she uses to create Elordi's signature tousled look, including the editor-favorite Roz Milk Hair Serum ($52) and the iconic Bumble Bumble Surf Spray ($35). The first is a hydrating leave-in treatment, and the second is a salt spray that accentuates the hair's texture. In an interview with NewBeauty, she also shared that her "guys," aka celebs like Jacob Elordi and Austin Butler, like La Mer's iconic Lip Balm ($80).

Hairstylist and makeup artist Shannon JJ Williams also shared insight into Elordi's grooming routine on social media, posting about the products he used to prep the actor for a magazine shoot. He noted that he's a fan of Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum ($56) and Peter Thomas Roth's Cucumber De-Tox Hydra-Gel Eye Patches ($28).

What can I say about Pedro Pascal that hasn't already been said? The Chilean American actor has kept the internet on its collective toes via good-humored interviews while on press junkets and risk-taking style choices. (Tell me you haven't already forgotten about the Calvin Klein muscle tee he wore to the Cannes Film Festival photo call or the Saint Laurent thigh-high boots he wore while promoting The Last of Us.) Speaking of the Cannes Film Festival, he was spotted at the French airport carrying the Bottega Veneta Andiamo Messenger Bag. The chicest of carry-on bags!

According to Business Insider, celebrity hairstylist and groomer Coco Ullrich uses La Mer products to prep his skin ahead of appearances. (As a fan of his, I somehow feel like it makes sense that he would have a low-key luxurious skincare routine. Just look at his complexion.)

Among the products mentioned was the brand's iconic Moisturizing Soft Cream ($100), The Concentrate Serum ($225), and the Eye Concentrate Cream ($275). All of which are enriched with La Mer's proprietary Miracle Broth ingredient that moisturizes and revitalizes the skin. Ullrich also mentions the Solawave Wand, which is a four-in-one skincare device that tackles fine lines, wrinkles, dark circles, and more. And as for his signature wavy hair, Ullrich seems to use Bumble Bumble products, specifically the brand's Semisumo Hi-Shine Pomade ($37).

ASAP Rocky is one half of the ultimate celebrity power couple. (Hi, Rihanna.) I was curious as to what beauty and/or grooming products he uses as a busy husband, father, performer, and luxury-style lover. After doing a lot of research, and I mean a lot, I learned that he keeps his cards close to his chest. Or, in his own words from an interview with The Sunday Times, "I've got to keep a couple of those a secret." He does, however, admit that his favorite products are either A) Gucci Beauty or B) Fenty Skin.

With that being said, I was able to find two fragrances he wears, a lip balm he uses, and make one educated guess. First, he's the face of Gucci's Guilty Pour Homme ($137) and wears it alongside the brand's Guilty Pour Femme ($150) because, as he put it in an interview with GQ, "I don't think [fragrance] should have any binary."

He was also featured in Fenty's campaign for the brand's Lux Balm ($16), an ultra-hydrating cherry-flavored lip balm. And because I bet Rihanna helps keep his skincare routine in check, especially when it pertains to SPF, I'm guessing he uses one of the brand's sunscreen-infused products. I'll put my money on Fenty Skin's Hydra Vizor Refillable Invisible Face Moisturizer SPF 30 ($45). Of course, he'd keep this all in one of his go-to designer bags, the Bottega Veneta Andiamo Bag.

AnotherBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing team favorite, Jonathan Bailey was one of the only internet boyfriends who was discussed in capital letters. Why? To convey our excitement, devotion, and passion, of course. From Bridgerton to Wicked and Jurassic World Rebirth, the film and stage actor is known for his cheeky attitude, cool off-duty style, and love of Loewe, which includes the brand's viral Featherlight Puzzle Bag.

He's another internet boyfriend who leans into an aura of mystery (or, to put it another way, doesn't speak up about his personal beauty and/or grooming routine very often). However, I was able to find a few vetted product picks, including Patchology's Flash Patch Rejuvenating Eye Gels ($40) and Olay's Regenerist Whip Moisturizer With SPF 25 ($40). He told British GQ the former makes him "bright-eyed and sparkly" and the latter is an "essential."

And thanks to an InStyle interview with his costar Scarlett Johansson, I know he uses skincare products from her brand, The Outset. "He uses The Outset. He's very good with his face. He’s getting all his facials and steaming or whatever," she said. That makes sense. He seems loyal and supportive, no? I'm guessing he uses the brand's Firming Plumping Vegan Collagen Prep Serum ($46) and Ultralight Moisture-Boosting Botanical Oil ($44).

In the words of my colleague, Michael B. Jordan is "a man of the people," or should I say, an internet boyfriend of the people? The Creed and Sinners star has a signature classic sophistication about him, which is why his previous collaboration with Coach made so much sense. While the exact pieces from said collab are out of stock (no surprise), I bet he would approve of the brand's Compass Bag 50. It has a minimalist and sleek air to it that just feels right.

He's previously admitted that he's a minimalist when it comes to his beauty-and-grooming routine, but I was able to find a few clues as to what it might look like thanks to Tasha Reiko Brown, a Chanel makeup artist and groomer. She's shared insight into some of the products she might use to get him ready for red carpet events. I'm going with Chanel's Sublimage Le Baume ($455) and Papier Matifiant De Chanel ($35).

All good writers are aware of their own bias, and my bias is, well, Harry Styles. I've been a fan of his since 2012, which is when I firmly entered my One Direction era and became not so subtly obsessed with all five members of the group. Styles, however, was always my favorite. His voice! His stage presence! His hair! Back then, he had all the makings of a teenage heartthrob. Now, he has all the makings of a good internet boyfriend (or, IRL boyfriend if you're Zoë Kravitz).

He's been spotted carrying The Row's now cult-loved and often-sold-out Margaux bag, and in it, I imagine he'd carry a smattering of beauty and grooming products. First, two fragrances. The first being Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum ($300), which is his rumored favorite. The second being Gucci's Memoire d'Une Odeur Eau de Parfum ($136), for which he was featured in the campaign. Then, a selection of products from his own brand, Pleasing, including the Pearlescent Illuminating Serum ($35) (the secret behind his on-stage glow?) and The Perfect Polish Set ($65) (he's historically loved a good manicure).

Last but certainly not least, we have to talk about Manny Jacinto, a name that's been uttered many times by my colleagues and me during our internet-boyfriend conversations. The Filipino Canadian actor is perhaps best known for his roles in The Good Place, Top Gun: Maverick, and now Freakier Friday. Thanks to his sleek personal style (and his appearance at the Sacai menswear fall 2025 show), I think he'd be a fan of Sacai's Pocket Tote Bag.

In it, I know the exact beauty and/or grooming items he'd carry. First, in an interview with Cosmo, he thanked his wife, Dianne, for getting his skin routine locked down. He mentions Tower28's cult-loved SOS Daily Rescue Spray ($28). Then he mentions a face oil from Kypris, which I'm guessing is the brand's Beauty Elixir 1 ($230). He even says he'll get into some "gua sha action" if he's "feeling spicy." Talk about a man who knows his skincare!

In an interview with GQ, he revealed he also uses IS Clinical's Active Serum ($148), saying, "Kristen Bell's makeup artist was the one who told me to try this. It minimizes pores, which is good because I have large-ass pores. It's definitely made a difference in how my skin looks on the day-to-day and also on the camera." He also notes Kiehl's Facial Fuel Lip Balm, which is sadly out of stock. He strikes me as a conscientious and intentional person, so this simple yet effective skincare routine makes sense.
