I Just Got Back From Europe—French and Spanish Women Both Wore This One Trend
Every year, I spend most of my December and January in Europe, basking in the trends firsthand in the form of people-watching. Whether it's cool, on-the-go Spanish women in Madrid or chic, stylish Parisians sipping their morning coffee at a café, the women across the pond tend to deliver style quite effortlessly. The one trend I saw most of them wear, you ask? A well-made shearling aviator jacket.
Aviator jackets—and double-faced sherpa and shearling-lined styles, in general—proved to be one of the biggest jacket trends of last year. And they're not going anywhere anytime soon based on my hard-found, calculated research (aka the street style of women I observed during my travels).
They're the perfect no-fuss adornment to an already great outfit, and, for most European women living a busy, metropolitan life, the jacket style seems to be a go-to choice as we enter 2024. Below, browse plenty of outfit inspiration and shop the best aviator jackets to start the year strong. Trust me—you won't want to scroll away.
Shop aviator jackets:
This one from Zara has to be one of the most popular styles worn in Madrid.
No joke, I ran into Zara in Spain to pick this one up for myself.
This jacket is on deep, deep discount, so get it while it's still in stock.
I've never seen a brown-and-black combination before on an aviator jacket, but after seeing this one from Mango, I'm sold on it.
This slightly oversize aviator jacket is perfect if you're into a more casual look.
Wait—I genuinely think I need this one or else I won't be able to function.
My sister also snagged this Zara jacket while we were both in Spain. After borrowing it a few times, I have to admit that it lives up to the hype.
If you're looking for a leather-free option, look no further than this gorgeous version from Reformation.
A good jacket is a lifelong commitment, so if you're looking to invest in one that you'll wear forever, this Re/Done jacket seems perfect.
If you're looking for a jacket with a little extra length, this Topshop find would like a word.
