Yes, I live in New York, so I have an unreasonably small closet. But that hasn't stopped me from amassing a sizable collection of shoes, or, more specifically, boots. While it may sound crazy to some to fill up a bookshelf and two back-of-door organizers with my shoes, to me, no part of an outfit is as crucial as the shoes you finish it with. When I'm trekking around the city, I need something with a low heel. If I'm wearing bell-bottoms, I always choose pointed boots. And if it's snowy, a chunky sole is a necessity.
But it's not just that I've managed to hone in on a boot for every occasion; there are certain styles that seem to garner the question "Where did you get those?" whenever I wear them out of the house. It seems that we're all on a quest to find the perfect boots. So, since I've walked more than a few miles in the eight styles below, I figured they'd be worth sharing.
White Boots
White boots may seem intimidating at first, but I've found that these boots are often the one thing that pulls an outfit together. Available in sizes 4 to 12.

Velvet Ankle Boots
While I first picked up these shoes last winter, they've continued to be a favorite in my boot rotation. The blue velvet looks ultra luxe and is a cool alternative to standard black.Available in sizes 36 to 39.
Classic Chelsea Boots
Sometimes the simplest thing is the hardest to get right. But these Freda Salvador boots are the perfect take on a classic. The toe is just pointed enough, and the nail detail around the sole sets them apart.Available in sizes 5 to 11.
Combat Boots

While it's easy to opt for basic black leather boots, having an alternate pair in a brown suede means you can mix things up without doing too much shuffling. Sock Boots
It doesn't feel like all that long ago that I first heard of sock boots for the first time, but these days I would be remiss to not highlight them.
