I'm Seriously Fussy When It Comes to Candles, But These Festive Scents Never Fail to Impress
Shop my edit of the chicest Christmas candles of 2025, from Jo Malone London to Diptyque.
I'm putting it out there: I'm a candle hoarder. I have drawers full of them. From fresh, airy scents to woody, spicy aromas, I've got a plethora of options in my collection—one for every mood. And as a winter candle obsessive, I'm finally entering my favourite time of the year. With Christmas approaching, I'm gearing up to unwrap all of the most festive scents in my collection and turn my home into a Christmassy grotto.
The only problem is that when it comes to Christmas scents, I'm seriously fussy. The idea of filling my room with the sorts of traditional, heady, sickly scents associated with Christmas makes me want to run for the hills. I like my festive candles to smell fresh and crisp, and have a warming (but not headache-inducing) base that makes me want to snuggle up under a blanket. And after testing and trialling virtually every Christmas candle out there, I can safely say that I've found the best ones.
From classic scents that I come back to every single Christmas, to new luxury candle launches that have stolen a spot on my coffee table this December, there are plenty of options to choose from.
So if, like me, a sweet, heady Christmas candle isn't usually your vibe, keep scrolling for the most deliciously elegant and festive candles around.
The Best Christmas Candles 2025
- Best woody Christmas candle: Diptyque Feu De Bois
- Best sweet Christmas candle: Acqua di Parma Holiday 2025 Panettone Candle
- Best fresh Christmas candle: Jo Malone London Pine Eucalyptus
- Best warm Christmas candle: Trudon Nazareth
1. Jo Loves Christmas Trees
Key notes: Pine needles, lavender, amber, incense
The wholeBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK team agrees: this is the best-smelling Christmas tree candle. It's the closest thing to a real Christmas tree, all pine sap and glowing amber that fills the room. Plus, the pop of red adds a festive touch to any room.
2. Diptyque Feu De Bois
Key notes: Blazing embers, lapsang tea
Translating as 'wood fire', Feu De Bois is a great alternative if you want a winter candle that will still feel suitable in January and beyond. It creates all the cosiness of a roaring, smoky log fire, adding a homely feel that feels subtly festive and incredibly sophisticated.
3. Acqua di Parma Holiday 2025 Panettone Candle
Key notes: Orange, bergamot, tangerine, panettone accord
I know I said I didn't like sickly scents, so the idea of a dessert-themed candle wouldn't usually be up my street, but I will make an exception for Acqua di Parma's Panettone scent. This is the most elegant olfactory interpretation of Italy’s iconic holiday dessert, with a soft panettone accord brought to life by notes of orange, bergamot and tangerine.
4. Space NK Shimmering Spice Candle
Key notes: Cinnamon, cedar, allspice
Not a year goes by that I don't have this burning in my living room on Christmas Day. Not only does the candle come housed in the chicest gold vessel, but spicy cinnamon and cedar come together to bring heaps of festive cheer.
5. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Mon Beau Sapin Candle
Key notes: Balsam fir, resins, amber, precious woods
Nothing says luxury like a Christmas candle from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. This year's festive offering is simply stunning, and I have my eyes on the Mon Beau Sapin scent. It feels fresh and woody thanks to notes of balsam fir and resins, while hints of amber add a warm, cosy touch.
6. Jo Malone London Pine Eucalyptus
Key notes: Pine, eucalyptus
Jo Malone's limited-edition festive scents are incredible. If you want a clean, invigorating option, I recommend Pine Eucalyptus. I'll be burning this one on those days between Christmas and New Year, when all I'm doing is staying inside and watching films on repeat. It's like a breath of fresh air and always makes my space feel brand new.
7. Trudon Nazareth
Key notes: Clove, cinnamon, orange, musk
Since getting my hands on this year's Christmas candle from Trudon, I have been desperate to burn it while decorating the house. It really captures the festive season in its rich, warming aroma, and the vessel is super chic. If you want to elevate your space in seconds, this is the candle to go for.
8. Diptyque Sapin Candle
Key notes: Siberian pine, resin, cedar, moss
In my opinion, this is the gold standard of Christmas candles. It smells like fresh forest walks, icy windows and all of the nose-tingling freshness that makes winter so great, not to mention the fact that this year's Christmas packaging is better than ever.
9. Bamford Eucalyptus Fir Tree Candle
Key notes: Pine, eucalyptus, cedarwood
If I could, I would fill my entire house with Bamford candles. There is something so grounding about the brand's scents, and the Christmas offering is no exception. Inspired by snow-capped Christmas trees at Daylesford farm, this candle feels earthy, fresh and green, and makes a welcome change from those typical, sweet Christmas scents.
10. The White Company Winter
Key notes: Cinnamon, clove, orange
One of The White Company's most iconic scents, Winter combines cinnamon, clove and orange to a warm and spicy effect. It's one of our all-time favourites thanks to its luxurious aroma, but it's also a show-stopping addition to your Christmas tablescape.
11. Beauty Pie Firewood
Price shown is members' price.
Key notes: Charcoal, cedarwood, guaiac wood, leather, moss
This sleek, modern-looking candle will see you through the whole of winter, but the warm, woody, fireside scent really comes into its own during Christmas. It's the perfect candle to burn when cosying up with loved ones in the living room.
12. Neom Perfect Peace
Key notes: Fir, myrrh, lime peel
Every year, Neom brings its A game in festive home fragrance, and it totally knocked it out of the park with this one. Pine and lime peel make this candle impossibly fresh and uplifting, while myrrh gives it a depth perfect for cosy evenings by the fire.
