I Work in Fashion and Think These Dress, Top, and Denim Trends Are Worth Buying
Knowing which trends to buy each season is no easy task, and a lot of the time, it really comes down to trial and error. That being said, given that I work in fashion and spend a lot of time writing about and identifying trends, it's safe to say that I have an idea about which ones will stay on the scene longer than others. I'm also someone who doesn't like to buy unless I know I'll get my money's worth out of whatever piece I'm investing in. In this case, we're focusing on spring's best dresses, tops, and denim.
I'm confident that the five trends below are all worthwhile buys. What makes them stand out from the rest? Number one, a few have managed to stick around for a couple of seasons already (ahem, Y2K fashion), and number two, their versatility negates any sign of their slowing down. So, if you're wondering what new items to fill your shopping cart with, keep scrolling. I promise, your closet will be very happy.
1. Baggy and Relaxed Jeans
An extension of the 90's silhouettes we've come to love, baggy and relaxed jeans are a welcome respite from the more form-fitting options out there. I love that there is a range to how loose the fits are as well. There's truly something for everyone.
2. Crochet and Open-Knit Tops and Dresses
With summer on the horizon, crochet and open-knit tops and dresses are a no-brainer. Because they're more delicate than your average piece of clothing, they feel more special to me as well.
3. Waist Cutout Dresses
Previously, I'd been on the fence when it came to the cutout dress trend. While there have been many iterations (this trend has been going strong for a while now), keeping the cutouts just at the waist is both sexy and sophisticated, which is something I can get behind.
4. Y2K Fashion
We are knee-deep in the Y2K trend, and if nothing else, it's sure to add a little fun to your wardrobe. Go full throttle with a corset top or an asymmetric minidress, or keep it subtle with a denim midi skirt and mesh top.
5. Saturated Button-Downs
The Kelly-green button-down we saw so much of in winter has morphed into even brighter tones for spring. I love how you could wear these out to dinner or as a coverup on the beach.
