These Eco-Friendly Razors Deliver the Dreamiest, Ultra-Smooth Results
Razors are a well-used staple that most of us have tucked away in the corners of our showers. And if you're like me, you're just becoming aware of the environmental implications of the disposable mainstay. The Environmental Protection Agency reported in the early '90s that nearly two billion razors and refill blades get tossed out in the U.S. each year. Unfortunately, this is because razors and razor cartridges are made with a mix of plastic, sharp metal, and rubber materials that aren't recyclable.
With this piece of knowledge, I went on a hunt for eco-friendly razor alternatives and found many that are not only gentler on the skin (single blades are easier on the skin) but also keep plastic out of landfills and, subsequently, our oceans. I think that's a win-win.
Oui the People The Single Rose Gold Sensitive Skin Razor
Not only is this razor beautiful (I love using it), but also the single-blade razor—it comes with 10 blades—provides a smooth shave for even those with thick hair.
Public Goods Bamboo Razor Handle
This unisex refillable razor made with a bamboo handle is both lightweight and offers up a close shave.
Hanni The Weighted Razor
Designed with a plastic-free, 100% metal, rust-proof body and blades (thanks to its powder coating), this razor can be used on the most sensitive of areas. And best of all, you won't lose your grip when you shave during a steamy shower.
Bevel Safety Razor
Made without plastic, this eco-friendly double-bladed razor is re-engineered to help prevent razor bumps and irritation for those with coarse and curly hair.
Maapilim Safety Razor
This double-edged safety razor offers a smooth, environmentally friendly shave—it's designed to prevent unwanted nicks and bumps.
Well Kept Safety Razor
If you enjoy color choices, this solid brass safety razor comes in three colors—black, cream, and dusty rose. Plus, the brand plants a tree with each razor purchase.
Bambaw Safety Razor
Who doesn't love a great Amazon find? And in this case, we found an eco-friendly gem that offers a close shave without skin irritation and ingrown hairs.
Fur Trimmer
Whether you're looking to trim your hair or shed it all, this rechargeable, cordless, water-resistant, three-blade electric razor can do both with blades that won't nick or cause razor burn.
Zomchi Safety Razor
We've got another highly rated Amazon find in the mix that offers seven color options and is designed with a bamboo handle and stainless steel parts that will ensure a close shave with a razor built to last.
Ecoroots Safety Razor
Made from zinc alloy and stainless steel, this recyclable one-blade razor comes with five blades.
Preserve Popi Razor
Reserve's five-blade razor features ceramic-coated blades and a moisturizing strip of cocoa butter and aloe. It's made from recycled ocean plastic recovered through clean-up initiatives.
More Shaving Products to Shop
Shaving cream is just as important to a bodycare routine as the perfect razor. This cream is formulated with jojoba oil and rosemary to nourish and protect skin while you get a close shave.
I always have a bottle of this scrub tucked away in my shower to use post-wax and -shave. Infused with papaya and pineapple enzymes to rinse away dead skin, glycolic and lactic acid to brighten uneven skin tone, and clary sage oil to soothe the skin, this gentle multipurpose scrub is a post hair removal must.
With rave reviews, this budget-friendly shaving cream formulated with vitamins C and E and shea butter is a treat for the skin.
I used shaving oil for the first time a couple of years ago, and it's a bodycare tool I love. Made with almond and argan oils, vitamin E, and rosemary essential oil, this will leave you with smooth, nourished skin.
Shaving can sensitize delicate skin, and this soothing cream formulated with camphor and menthol alongside anti-inflammatory sea mayweed and a trifecta of oils—plum almond oil, apricot kernel oil, and vitamin E—is made with those concerns in mind.
A sheet mask for the bikini area? I'm intrigued. This hydrating mask is made with rosemary, grapefruit, aloe, and hemp seed oil. It helps relieve and prevent inflammation, ingrown hairs, and razor burn.
Niacinamide isn't just for the face, and this formula proves it. Ingrown hairs don't stand a chance after applying this willow bark, niacinamide, and lactic acid infused formula.
This medicated drugstore staple helps stop pesky bumps and irritation in their tracks within 24 hours.
There are a few staples I am never without in my shower, and this almond and mango butter body polish is one of them. The gentle formula helps keep ingrown hairs at bay and smells like a tropical vacation dream.
When I first tried this exfoliating bar, I wasn't sure it would work for my skin. But it proved me wrong and made me a forever fan. Not only does biodegradable bamboo powder reveal softer skin, but it's also easy to pack and travel with without any bulk or mess.
