It's About to Be Hot and Sunny—TG—So Allow Me to Introduce You to 2025's Best New Sunscreens

As a beauty editor, I've been burned (pun intended) by bad sunscreens more times than I can count. I'm talking about pilling, smudging, chalky texture, greasy residue, ghostly white cast… the list goes on. But here's the thing: There are far too many brands and new product launches for me to even consider continuing in this way. In 2025, I outright refuse to settle for a subpar SPF.
While I have editor-approved sunscreens I keep close at hand, I'm excited to get into new (or new-ish) formulas that do double, even triple duty. Some incorporate self-tanner so you can look sunkissed without sun damage. Others reduce redness, smooth texture, or provide serum-grade active ingredients. These formulas are so good, you'll actually *like* wearing them. Imagine that. So, without further ado, allow me to introduce you to the 10 best new sunscreens of 2025 (so far).
Best Serum: Ultra Violette Future Screen SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Serum
Product Specs: SPF: 50 | Type: Mineral | Texture: Fluid | Size: 1.7 oz
Benefits: Lightweight, easy to blend, contains squalane and vitamin E for hydration and antioxidant protection
This Australian sunscreen brand used to only be available across the pond, which left beauty editors (like yours truly) either having to A) book a flight to buy the products or B) beg a friend to send one across the ocean. Lucky for us, it just hit Sephora U.S. (Read up on its exciting Stateside launch.)
While there are multiple products to choose from, and each is good in its own right,Best Knockoff Luxury Clothing 's beauty team holds Ultra Violette's Future Screen in high regard. The mineral, zinc-based formula offers SPF 50, and the light, serum-like texture sinks into the skin without any white cast or residue. It's pretty much the perfect daily sunscreen.
Customer review: "The product penetrates ultra easily and quickly into the skin without leaving a texture on the skin and without leaving a white/grayish trace on the skin!! It is easily applied after the moisturizer and after the makeup the result after the application of the makeup is 10/10. I highly recommend!"
Best for No White Cast: Vacation Crystal SPF 50 Sunscreen Gel
SPF: 50 | Type: Chemical | Texture: Gel | Size: 1.7 oz
Benefits: Transparent, water-resistant, contains hyaluronic acid, squalane, peptides, ceramides, cactus flower, and cica for multiple skin benefits
Here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , we're big fans of Vacation's 80s-inspired aesthetic and effective sunscreens. The brand's newest launch, Crystal SPF 50, is no exception. It's a totally transparent formula, which means there's a 0% chance you'll see a white cast of any kind. It's also sweat and water-resistant for up to 80 minutes and contains multiple good-for-skin ingredients. There's hyaluronic acid and squalane for hydration, peptides and ceramides to strengthen the skin barrier, cactus flower to support a clear complexion, and cica to soothe redness and inflammation. Did I mention it can double as a makeup primer? Yeah, it's the ultimate multitasking SPF.
Customer review: "It goes on so smooth and leaves no residue. I love this sunscreen and it is not crazy expensive. Also, I'm obsessed with the smell. It smells like vacation!!"
Best Damage-Reversing: Good Weather Skin The One Daily Sun Cream SPF 30
SPF: 30 | Type: Mineral | Texture: Cream | Size: 1 oz
Benefits: Lightweight, easy to blend, no white cast, contains squalane, seabuckthorn oil, peptides, and niacinamide to treat skin damage
This sunscreen, which is a favorite ofBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing 's associate beauty editor Maya Thomas, does double duty. It protects the skin with broad-spectrum SPF 30 while treating and reversing existing sun damage. The secret is in its packed ingredient list. It contains squalane for hydration, seabuckthorn oil for antioxidants, peptides for collagen production, and niacinamide for texture and tone correction. Think of it as a sunscreen and skin-improving serum in one.
Customer review: "I am so super excited to finally have a product that works for me! The feel and glow is amazing. I’ve never been able to wear a daily sunscreen until The One. Because of the harsh irritants, fragrance and white pasty look they gave me, my allergies and skin were not happy. Happy customer here."
Best Redness-Reducing: EltaMD UV Skin Recovery Red Color Correcting SPF 50
SPF: 50 | Type: Mineral | Texture: Cream | Size: 1.7 oz
Benefits: Color-correcting green tint to visibly reduce redness, contains a barrier repair complex, ceramide blend, and Centella Asiatica to combat irritation
If you struggle with redness or rosacea, I'm sure you understand my struggle. I'll try a new sunscreen only for it to irritate my sensitive skin and/or exacerbate my redness. This one is different. The 100% mineral formula is backed up by a barrier repair complex, soothing Centella Asiatica, and a ceramide blend to stop irritation in its tracks. On top of that, it has a green tint that visibly neutralizes the look of redness on the skin. This color-correcting SPF has become a new staple in my skincare routine.
Customer review: "My favorite SPF! I took this on vacation with me and I loved how it neutralized my redness. I barely wore makeup and I felt like it was because of how great this made my skin look. It lasted on the beach. Would recommend!"
Best Vitamin C-Spiked: Dermalogica Biolumin-C Vitamin C Heat Aging Protector SPF 50
SPF: 50 | Type: Chemical | Texture: Cream | Size: 1.7 oz
Benefits: Lightweight, easy to blend, contains a Thermaradiance complex to defend against heat aging, vitamin C to brighten the skin, and multiple calming ingredients to soothe the skin
I used to live in Austin, Texas, where summer temperatures would regularly rise above 100 degrees. I didn't know it at the time, but I could have used Dermalogica's new sunscreen. A girl can dream. This unique formula sets out to treat and prevent one thing: heat aging—AKA the skin-stressing and damaging effects of high heat. It contains a Thermaradiance complex to do so, as well as ultra-stable vitamin C to brighten the skin and bisabolol, allantoin, and safflower extracts to soothe the skin. If you live in a climate with scorching temps, this one's for you.
Customer review: "This SPF is a powerhouse for anyone serious about skincare. The BioLumin-C Heat Aging Protector not only shields against UV rays with SPF50 but also defends against heat-induced aging—something most sunscreens don't address. The lightweight formula absorbs quickly without feeling greasy, making it perfect for daily wear under makeup. Plus, the vitamin C infusion leaves skin looking brighter and more even over time. If you're looking for a high-performance sunscreen that does more than just block the sun, this one's worth the investment."
Best Tinted: Live Tinted Hueguard Glotion Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50
SPF: 50 | Type: Mineral | Texture: Cream | Size: 1.7 oz
Benefits: Tinted, lightweight, easy to blend, glowy finish, contains squalane to hydrate, blue pea flower to soothe, and strawberry fruit extract to protect the skin.
Fans of tinted sunscreens are sure to love this one. Although it only comes in two shades, it has a somewhat versatile formula that suits most skin tones (with zero white cast). The lightweight cream is one-part sunscreen, one-part makeup primer, and one-part brightening skin serum. Powered by squalane, blue pea flower, and strawberry fruit extract, it hydrates, soothes, brightens, and protects the skin.
Customer review: "This is called a glotion, and I'm glad it does not have shimmer. This gives me a glow without looking shimmery. This product is lightweight on my oily skin, has a good tint (I bought the 2 shades to mix for the perfect shade), and I don't even need to use foundation with it. I absolutely love this product."
Best for Dry Skin: Isdin Fusion Water Magic SPF 40
SPF: 40 | Type: Chemical | Texture: Fluid | Size: 1.7 oz
Benefits: Ultra-lighweight, 12-hour hydration, contains hyaluronic acid for hydration, Mediterranean algae extract for antioxidant protection, and Physalis Pubescens to protect against heat damage
Some sunscreens can feel tight or chalky on dry skin, whereas this one melts into the skin and delivers 12 hours of hydration. It's all thanks to ingredients like hyaluronic acid, Mediterranean algae extract, and Physalis Pubescens. The first hydrates the skin, the second provides antioxidant protection, and the third protects against heat damage. Thanks to an ultra-light, fluid texture, it truly feels like you're not wearing any sunscreen at all.
Best for Oily Skin: Dr.Jart+ Every Sun Day Invisible Sunscreen Stick SPF 40
SPF: 40 | Type: Chemical | Texture: Stick | Size: 0.67 oz
Benefits: Easy to apply, great for re-application, lightweight, nongreasy, primes the skin for makeup, blurs pores, contains hyaluronic acid for hydration
Sunscreen sticks are the key to quick and easy re-application. I always keep one in my purse, beach bag, and car for this very purpose. However, most of them have a super-glowy finish, which doesn't help those of us who'd like to cut down on shine or minimize texture and enlarged pores. That's where Dr. Jart's Every Sun Day Invisible Sunscreen Stick SPF 40 comes into play. It's lightweight on my skin, doesn't feel overly oily like other sunscreen sticks, and has a velvety matte finish that blurs pores and primes the skin for makeup.
Customer review: "I have oily skin and hate greasy SPF creams, so I always go for SPF sticks. This Dr. Jart+ Every Sun Day Ultra-Sheer Priming Sunscreen Stick is a great choice because it's lightweight, nongreasy, and has an invisible matte finish. It smooths and primes the skin while providing SPF 40 protection. I love that it minimizes pores, reduces shine, and works well under or over makeup. Plus, it's mess-free and easy to reapply throughout the day!"
Best Drugstore: Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing UVLock SPF 45
SPF: 45 | Type: Chemical | Texture: Cream | Size: 1.69 oz
Benefits: Lightweight, hydrating, easy to blend, contains birch tree sap to decrease inflammation, allantoin to soothe the skin, and portulaca oleracea to provide antioxidants
This Korean sunscreen is a delight to apply. The lightweight, hydrating formula feels like a moisturizer, yet it protects my skin with SPF 45. Thanks to ingredients like birch tree sap, allantoin, and portulaca oleracea extract, it's the ultimate skin-soother. Did I mention that there's no white cast whatsoever? Oh, and it's affordable… I mean, c'mon.
Customer review: "I’ve been using it for more than 6 months now and I don’t think I’ll go back to another SPF ever. This is perfect for my acne prone skin; non greasy, no white cast, just wonderful! 100% recommended."
Best Luxe: Augustinus Bader The Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50
SPF: 50 | Type: Mineral | Texture: Cream | Size: 1 oz
Benefits: Lightweight, hydrating, easy to blend, contains ingredients like TFC8 technology, micro-algae, and cottonseed extract for potent anti-aging effects
Yes, this sunscreen is expensive. That being said, it's not your basic SPF formula. It's spiked with the brand's patented TFC8 technology that supports cellular renewal. There's also micro-algae extract to target fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging and cottonseed extract to protect from photo-aging. With time, this sunscreen has been shown to have an anti-aging effect. So, yes, while it has a luxe price tag, it contains luxe ingredients.
Customer review: "Simply incredible, the feel and application are wonderful!!!! [...]."
Best Body: Dearcloud Body Glaze Essence Sunscreen SPF 30
SPF: 30 | Type: Chemical | Texture: Cream | Size: 3.38 oz
Benefits: Lightweight, easy to blend, luminous finish, contains squalane and hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate the skin
This Korean sunscreen is lightweight and luminous. Its shimmery finish gives limbs an instant vacation glow, while squalane and hyaluronic acid plump and hydrate dry skin. The body-perfecting formula gives me an instant boost of confidence.
Customer review: "I love the texture of this sunscreen. It's not too thick, not too thin, and slightly mouse-y. It dries down to a very nice natural finish and isn't greasy or oily [...]"
