People Freak Out Over My Nails Whenever I Wear This Brand of Nail Polish
There was a time when my relationship with nail polish was purely polygamous. I didn't favor one brand over any other, and it was normal for me to wear a spectrum of colors within one week's time—purple on Monday, red by Thursday, and disco ball glitter by Saturday. (Okay, that last part hasn't actually changed much.) That said, the second I tried my first-ever polish from Olive and June, I became a girl obsessed. This was a little over a year ago, and unlike a lot of my past product or brand infatuations, this one has totally stuck.
It honestly makes sense that Olive and June nail polish is a dream come true for any mani lover. If you're not familiar, the brand got its start as the hot spot nail boutique in Los Angeles, with three cozy-cute locations sprinkled in Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and Pasadena. Eventually, the brand's founder, Sarah Gibson Tuttle (a self-proclaimed mani obsessee), decided to create her own line of product, and as cliché as it might sound, the rest is history.
As the line is affordable (each polish is only $8), 7-free (there's no dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, or xylene here), and salon-level fabulous (the gloss! the long wear! the color choices!), Gibson Tuttle has quite literally created the perfect polish, and I haven't been able to stray since, especially considering the seriously helpful tools and sets the brand has added to its lineup. A new color collection drops each and every season, and just when I think Gibson Tuttle has outdone herself and will never be able to surpass the newest assortment, she goes and does it again. My fellow beauty editor Courtney Higgs and I are equally besotted, and we gush not only about the quality of the polish formula but also about how brilliant the colors are. It's like Gibson Tuttle knows your dream shade palette before you do! Another perk? (Sorry, I could wax poetic for a week straight.) People always, always, always comment on how good your nails look when you're wearing Olive and June. Again, I think it has something to do with the stunning colors and the ridiculously glossy finish that looks practically bouncy.
To shine a spotlight on the nail polish brand we can't stop talking about and painting with over here at WWW, we're sharing a list of our top 18 colors—a daunting, near-impossible task might we add—and all of our other favorite Olive and June nail essentials. (The Super Glossy Top Coat, $8, is the best I've ever had, and the Nail Polish Remover Pot, $8, might actually change your life.) Keep scrolling! We're sharing 18 of the best Olive and June nail polishes in existence—at least until the spring drop, that is.
Our Favorite Dark Shades
Sorry to burst your bubble, but not all black nail polishes are created equally. This one, called E+M, is the inkiest, glossiest, and most deliciously villainous black—exactly how we like it.
Named after celebrity esthetician Shani Darden, it doesn't get more perfect than this rich, juicy shade of plum. We'd tell you it's perfect for winter, but we love it so much that it's become an all-year-round kind of situation.
Our Favorite Neutral Shades
This soft, creamy polish gives you the best of all worlds. It's a magical cross between white, cream, and the babiest of baby pinks. It's ridiculously flattering for every single skin tone.
If you're someone who likes a neutral that's a little less pink and a tad more tan, this subtle toasted shade is the ultimate pick. It's our go-to "when in doubt, paint with this" shade. Technically, the brand describes it as sheer, but after a few coats, you get more satisfying coverage than your typical sheer.
Our Favorite Pink Purple
The purest pink, you can't help but smile every time you glance down at your nails after painting them with this peppy lacquer.
This purple is such a head-turner, and prepare yourself because this bold shade of periwinkle incites a waterfall of compliments anywhere you go. Wear this one when you need a confidence boost—it's our not-so-secret superpower when times get especially stressful.
Our Favorite Red Shades
As it's retro, classic, and supremely glamorous, we have a hunch this true red will quickly become your favorite vibrant signature.
If darker hues of Bordeaux are more your speed, proceed with a warning… This new winter collection shade called Obsessed is, indeed, obsession forming. (It literally looks like you're wearing glossy garnets on your fingertips, and we're not mad at it.)
Our Favorite Metallic Glitter
It's quite literally impossible to be in a bad mood when you have this polish on. The glittering gold, disco ball sparkle makes every day feel like a holiday. Wear it on its own or use it as a topper.
FYI: A flash of metallic silver is actually our favorite underestimated neutral. (Swap it in for a gray or white!) It's subtle, but the undeniable shimmer adds a little something extra.
If we had to choose a top five from Olive and June, this stunning shade of rose gold would definitely make the cut. Courtney and I can never get enough.
Our Favorite Green Blue
Olive and June might call this one-part green, one-part blue shade Yes Please, but it's alter ego is a jaunty 1957 Cadillac.
When people tell me they don't like blue nail polishes or that they don't think it's a flattering hue, I point them to Honest True. It pops against all skin tones and is equally cheerful and charming.
Our Favorite Yellow Orange Shades
All that plays in our mind when we wear JLR is "Build Me Up Buttercup." Technically, this beloved polish was a spring release, but that hasn't stopped us from craving it anytime, anywhere. It's our optimal creamy yellow.
Is it orange? Salmon? Pink? Coral? We're not entirely sure, but it's one of our all-time favorite Olive and June launches. (It's especially cute on toes!)
If you didn't already know, Courtney and I have legitimate telepathy all the time (we used to show up in the office accidentally wearing the same outfit), but especially when it comes to seriously good beauty products. We painted this on our nails the same day last summer (unplanned) and instantly proceeded to text each other about its perky day-brightening powers.
Our Favorite Brown Shades
If you've written off brown nail polish in the past, JJ, a warm, spicy cinnamon brown, will be the Olive and June nail polish to convince you it's worth a try. To be honest, I don't know if any other nail polish from the brand has induced as many questions and compliments.
This rich chocolate shade is so good we could eat it. Even though we love a classic black mani, this cocoa hue called CN (named after Candace Nelson, the founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes) is a slightly softer option that still feels dramatic and bold. Plus, we love how universally flattering it is.
Complete Your At-Home Mani Setup
Yep, the pedicure set is here, and we've never been so motivated to spend so much quality time with our feet. Here, your tootsies have everything they could possibly need: foot file, nail polish remover pot, large flat-edge nail clippers, nail file, cuticle remover, cuticle pusher, mini buffer, foot serum, silicone toe separators, clean-up brush, topcoat, and your choice of any polish color.
