The 9 Best Tampons for Swimming
Why is it that periods come at the most inopportune times? Like during a long-awaited vacation, right before a night with that special someone, the first day of your new job, your wedding day… One of the most annoying times to get your period is when you've been planning to spend some time at the beach or pool. First, you've got to think about packing tampons, and then you've got to remember to change said tampons, and add to that you're on high alert about any leakage or accidents.
But let's not let our periods get us down. You've just got to arm yourself with the right stuff—so we present to you the best tampons for swimming.
1. Playtex Sport Tampons
This one's a classic. The sport tampons are designed to move with you, so you can swim laps, win a chicken fight, and pose for some photos on a very Instagrammable floatie without a care.
2. Tampax Pocket Pearl Tampons
Tampax Pocket Pearl tampons are my personal favorite for everything, even pool days. I love that they are so compact so you can fit them in even the tiniest bag.
3. Lola Compact Plastic Applicator Tampons
When it comes to organic tampons, Lola's are probably the most well-known. Each tampon is 100% biodegradable, with no synthetics. These ones are compact and fit in the palm of your hand; they won't take up too much room in your beach bag, so you can use the extra room to pack everything else (towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, etc.).
4. U by Kotex Fitness Tampons
These sport tampons are great for an active day (surf lessons or paddle boarding, anyone?). Even better, this particular package comes with a case that can hold three tampons (more than enough for a long day at the beach).
5. o.b. Fluid Lock Multipack Tampons
These tampons don't have applicators, so they might take some getting used to, but the best part about them is you don't have to worry about waste. Each one has special grooves that protect against leaks so you can swim as many laps as you can without worrying about getting a new tampon. (It's best to change one every four to eight hours.)
6. L. Organic Cotton Tampons
L. organic tampons are on our list of best organic tampons. Not only do we love the packaging and the fact that they're made without chlorine bleaching, rayon, synthetic pesticides, fragrances, or dyes, but the brand also has a one-for-one deal. For every product you buy, one is made accessible to another person. Reviewers have good things to say about the absorbency, which gives you peace of mind, especially when you're at the beach and the bathroom is a far walk.
7. Seventh Generation
We already know that Seventh Generation makes some great eco-friendly household products, but did you know it also makes feminine-care products? These tampons have a plant-based applicator. Reviews say they are comfortable in terms of wear, which is great if you're going to be moving around a lot in the pool.
8. Cora
Cora's tampons have a 100% certified organic cotton core and are highly absorbent and hypoallergenic.
9. The Honey Pot Company
The Honey Pot Company is one of our favorite feminine-care brands. These tampons are gynecologist-approved and made with clean cotton sans chlorine, perfumes, dyes, or synthetic materials. The applicator has a textured finger grip for easy insertion.
