I Searched Through Thousands of Wool Jumpers—These 16 Are the Very Best
As a fashion editor, I’m very passionate about wardrobe staples, and for me, nothing compares to a great wool jumper. Let’s face it: If you live in the UK, you’ll be reaching for a wool jumper on about 70% of days. Whether you're throwing it over a minidress as you travel to an event, keeping it firmly attached to your body before you admit it’s time to turn the heating on, or stuffing it into your bag as you walk out of the door (just in case), a decent wool jumper will accompany you through the winter months, offering both emotional and physical comfort.
High-quality wool jumpers can be an investment, but if you keep a few things in mind, it's very easy to make them last. I always recommend wearing your wool jumper with a T-shirt underneath, not only to make your outfit look cleaner (if your jumper has a lower neckline), but also to extend the time between washes. When it does come time to wash, ensure you’re putting your wool on a delicate cycle—or better yet, handwash it yourself. Allow the jumper to dry on a flat surface, and always make sure you fold your wool when you're storing it instead of hanging it up, as this helps the garment keep its shape. And if over time you find small holes in your jumper, don’t fret—consider getting it repaired by a trusted tailor to extend its lifespan.
You probably won't be surprised to hear that when it comes to wool knits, I take the shopping process rather seriously. I’m not interested in a wool jumper that's actually more synthetic than wool, so I’ve carefully curated the below edit with a few things in mind. Naturally, I’ve looked for jumpers that contain very high wool percentages—most are 100%. As well as this, I've selected styles in timeless colours and cuts.
Designer favourites such as Raey and The Row certainly offer outfit-elevating styles, but trusted high-street brands like H&M and Other Stories also have excellent options that come in at under £100. Read on to discover my edit of the best wool jumpers available to buy right now.
