My Boss Just Complimented My Hair—It's Because I Used This On-Sale Hair Tool

There are two things you should know about me up front. One, I hate spending my money (yes, I see the irony here given the fact I'm a fashion editor, which is a career people assume equates to shopping), and two, I'm rubbish at styling my hair. This combination means that I regularly find myself wincing when I think about how much money I've spent on my quest for good hair. Though I haven't spent completely frivolously, I have been tempted by more than my fair share of tools, serums and luxury shampoos, none of which have delivered the results they promise. How hard can it be to emulate a salon-worthy blowdry at home? Turns out, very. But that was until recently, when I found what I consider to be the holy grail of hair tools. And now it's on sale in October's Amazon Prime Big Deal Days sale).

The BondiBoost Blowout hot brush can be used on wet or dry hair.

When I think of hot brushes, I automatically picture those ones with small, metal barrels—the type my grandma would use to give her bob a lift. As a teenager, I remember trying to use said hot brush to give myself the waves my friends seemed to have mastered with their straighteners, but alas, my attempts fell flat. Literally. I have a lot of hair, and even to this day, my trusty GHDs can't always guarantee an all-day style hold. Plus, I never wanted sculpted curls or waves; just a bit of movement and volume through my tresses. The moment I'd brush out my handiwork—a step which usually gives a softer, more lived-in look—my hair would just go back to looking limp with some wayward bends thrown in here and there.

I section my hair quickly into two halves, and start with the lower section.

After years of disappointment, I'd all but given up hope. Then, whilst scrolling through Instagram, I saw it—a hot brush with a huge barrel and more five-star reviews than I could count. It was BondiBoost's Blowout Brush, and my interest was piqued. Could this hot brush overwrite my previous experience with that ancient iteration of the tool? Judging by the bouncy, beautiful hair I was looking at on my phone screen, it certainly had potential. But then again, I'd been here before—promises of gorgeous hair at home dangled like a carrot before me, only to be left disappointed when my weighty hair just wouldn't take hold. Still, something inside me told me this was worth a last-ditch attempt, so I quickly hopped onto Amazon, found the hot brush, and hit "buy".

Starting at the roots on the underside of your hair and holding the brush horizontally, rotate from root to tip to create bounce and shape.

My BondiBoost Blowout Brush arrived two weeks ago, and since I started using it I've never received so many compliments on my hair. So much so, even my boss messaged me in the middle of a meeting to tell me how great it looked. She honestly thought I had been for a salon blowdry on my lunch break. What's more, it eliminates frizz (which I'm prone to); leaves my hair feeling silky soft and bestows it with a radiant shine that I thought was impossible to achieve on blonde locks. Not only are the results what I've longed for, but the hot brush itself is incredibly efficient, quick and easy to use.

Now, it's time to tackle the top section of my still-wet hair.

Whilst you can absolutely jump right in with fully wet hair, I do like to give my roots a quick blast with my standard hair dryer first, as this seems to be the trickiest part of the hair to fully dry with the large-barrelled hot brush. Lacking patience and time, I usually section my hair into two parts—I'll twist the upper section of my hair and fix it out of the way with a clip at my crown, then begin work on the under section. Taking my hair in 5cm sections, I start at the root underneath the hair and rotate the hot brush horizontally, giving my hair a gorgeous root lift.

Then, I'll pull the brush through the lengths of my hair, rotating as I go, until I reach the ends. I continue to rotate to give the ends a bouncy curve, and then release. For the entire under section, it takes me about five minutes. I repeat the process on the top section of my hair. Again, I'll add volume by rotating under the hair at the root, but instead of heating the entirety of my hair from underneath, I'll alternate drying some of the 5cm sections on the outer side from the mid-lengths to ends to create some natural-looking flicks and bends, which I think give the overall look more polish and professional-looking flair.

The finished result—a sleek, professional-looking blowdry in 15 minutes flat.

With a standard round brush and conventional hair dryer, I could spend anything from 25 to 45 minutes trying to style my hair like this. Now, it takes me 15 minutes tops. Hand on heart, this is the best hair tool I've ever bought. I was actually looking to buy one for a friend's birthday when I noticed the BondiBoost Blowout Brush has been included in October's Amazon Prime Day sale. I'm not even mad that I didn't get mine on-sale—it's that good. I'm beyond excited to spread the word on the BondiBoost Blowout Brush whilst you can get it for less in this Prime Big Deal Days sale. With my friend's brush safely bought and shipping its way to her, I've shopped out my exact hot brush for you below, followed by other Amazon hot-brush deals that also come highly reviewed.

Whilst I can't say how it'll perform on other hair types, if you want to achieve the kind of bounce, smoothness and shine that'll make you look like you've just handed over £40 to your hairdresser every morning, I recommend giving it a whirl. You better click quick though, as these Prime Day deals will disappear at the stroke of midnight tonight, 11 October, 2023. Remember, you need to sign up for an Amazon Prime account to unlock the savings. It's free for 30 days so you can access all the benefits of the Big Deal Days discounts without shelling out a penny (just remember to cancel before the 30 days is up if you don't want to pay the monthly fee going forward).
