7 Classic Coats Stylish Celebrities Wear Non-Stop
With the temperatures resting between 0 and minus numbers right now, if you don't have a winter coat, you need one. But investing in a great coat shouldn't be taken lightly, especially as the goal, typically, is to find one that you can buy now and treasure forever. With new-in sections awash with cold-weather coats it can be a little overwhelming at times, but thankfully, I'm here to help. I've narrowed it down to seven pillar styles that will remain eternally chic, so you can invest now and rewear forever.
In my search for the best types of coats to invest in, I found that lots of our favourite celebrities rely on these styles year after year, proving just how good they are. Whether you're going out or simply running to the shops, these timeless styles will elevate any look and keep you cosy all winter long. The concise list includes faux-fur coats, the classic trench coat and, of course, the puffer coat. Over the years, I've managed to accumulate one of each of these styles, and with the right care, they'll last for years to come. Plus, if you opt for black or neutral tones, you'll be able to easily mix and match with everything in your wardrobe. Scroll on to explore seven celebrity-approved coat styles to invest in now.
1. CAMEL COATS
There's a timeless elegance that is innate to this type of outerwear, and it promises to elevate any outfit you pair it with. We've spotted the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Rachel Stevens returning to this style every year when the cooler days set in, proving the longevity of this investment piece.
This classic design and long length will forever be on-trend.

2. PUFFER COATS
When I was 16, I bought a black puffer coat, and I still wear it today. Yes, I've gotten over a decade of wear from this one coat style. Though my puffer is ready for replacement, the style isn't going anywhere. The puffer coat has become a modern classic within fashionable wardrobes, so if you want a cosy coat that will also protect from sudden showers, then check a puffer coat off your fashion-staples list.
Jourdan Dunn makes a case for the glamorous puffer.

This tan hue is another option that will go with everything in your wardrobe.
3. SALT PEPPER COATS
Everywhere I look right now I see salt and pepper coats. The monochromatic style takes into account houndstooth patterns, classic checked coats, and any other mix of muted tones. From celebrities like Sienna Miller and Hailey Bieber, to our favourite influencers, the fashion set is turning towards this style to add a timeless contrasting texture.
Hailey's oversized coat works perfectly with this full tonal look.
Every time I go to Paris I spot stylish people in houndstooth coats.
Innately chic.
4. TRENCH COATS
If there's one jacket that works the hardest, I'd say it's the classic trench coat. Featured in every minimalist's wardrobe, this coat is extremely versatile and not to be overlooked. Wearing a dress? Trench coat. Want to smarten up your tracksuit set? Trench coat. Rainy days? Trench coat. It can be worn for coffee dates, running errands or over eveningwear. Trust me—once you invest in a trench coat, you'll pull it out every autumn.
Alexa Chung keeps it classic with a beige trench coat.
Dakota Johnson proves that beige isn't your only trench coat option with her sleek navy style.

Frankie Shop has taken the trench coat a step further by making it in a cosy wool fabric.
5. FAUX-FUR COATS
For a time, faux-fur coats took a back seat while teddy styles reigned supreme. But Kate Moss and Hailey Bieber have convinced us that it's time for the faux-fur coat to have a comeback. This winter, style yours with minidresses when you're going out-out or with baggy jeans and a tee for a cool laid-back look.
Faux-fur coats combine chic style and cosy fabrication.
They also add a touch of glamour and drama to every look.

Stand Studio's coats are much loved by the fashion set.
Faux-fur coats definitely work for casual looks, too.
6. LEATHER COATS
A slightly broader coat option is the leather coat. While classic biker jackets are a reliable option, there are plenty more styles if you've already bagged a great biker. We've noticed that celebrities are turning to leather trenches and leather peacoats for the colder months, and we must confess we're sold.
Emily Ratajkowski's sleek leather coat is all the inspiration we need.
Naomie Harris's evergreen leather coat is high on our wish lists.

7. MAXI COATS
This newer style of coat is fast becoming a modern classic. Don't be misled by the fact that it's trending; this long-length coat will never go out of style. Right now, grey versions seem to be all the rage, and thankfully, this colour is eternally chic, so you'll never fall out of love with your grey maxi coat.
