I Can't Stop Thinking About This COS Skirt—3 Ways I'm Planning to Wear It

One of the best parts of my job is the access to exciting fashion insights. We get to know the trends that are about to take off, the next sell-out styles before they're all gone and the pieces that fashion people are adding to their wardrobes in real time. What's even better is that we get to share these findings with you. And right now, there's one particular flying-off-the-shelves item that I want to talk about: COS' Double-Faced Wool Column Maxi Skirt (£115).

Inevitably, some trending styles will be more of a flash in the pan than a lifelong wardrobe acquaintance, but this sleek skirt is quite the opposite. Understated, refined and an instant injection of polish into any look, it's easy to see why this skirt (and the wool skirt trend in general) is taking off right now. Whilst the style itself isn't new, current iterations of the column skirt (also known as the pencil skirt) feel incredibly fresh. In keeping with the overarching understated, quiet-luxury mood in fashion of late, this is exactly the kind of piece I've been looking for.

Not only is COS' column skirt an endlessly chic addition that will slip right into your winter wardrobe (I've shared my styling ideas below), but it will move with you through spring and autumn too. It comes in three shades: the black features belt loops and neat welted pockets, whilst the cream and navy versions remove the details for a more streamlined effect. The brilliance of this style is that it's so clean that it can be elevated with boots or heels or worn casually with trainers and a cosy knit.

Without further ado, here's the COS column skirt I can't stop thinking about, and how to style it right now.

How to Style the COS Column Maxi Skirt

1. THE BLACK SKIRT

Style Notes: For this look, I'm keeping to the pared-back feel and letting the skirt take centre stage with monochromatic additions.

2. THE CREAM SKIRT

Style Notes: Unlike black, cream can be harder to shade match for a monochromatic look. Instead, I look to complementing gradients like darker greige and brown.

3. THE NAVY SKIRT

Style Notes: Whilst this skirt exudes polish, it can still be easily dressed down, making it more versatile than you might think. A simple tee and trending colourful trainers are an easy way to take this skirt off duty.
