These 5 Nail Colours Feel a Little “Dated”, According to Beauty Editors

I want to start this article by saying that I do not advise buying into every single beauty trend there is. Yes, I like to write about them and fill you in on the most popular nail colours, haircut trends and makeup looks of the season, but that doesn't mean that I think you need to try these things to look or feel good. Instead, I truly believe in doing what suits you and wearing whatever nail polish, lipstick or hair accessory you want, regardless of what's "in" or "out".

Having said that, as a team of fashion and beauty editors, a lot of us have opinions on trends (naturally), both past and present, as we're constantly keeping our eyes out for the next big thing. Because of this, I was interested to learn what the team thought about this season's most popular nail colours and the ones they won't be bringing into 2024 with them.

As it turns out, there are quite a few nail shades that some of theBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing UK editors feel have become a little "dated". As I said above, that's not to say that you can't wear these colours—if you love them then go for it!—but if you're interested in what shades you won't see on our nails this year (and what we'll be swapping them for instead), then keep on scrolling.

5 Nail Colours You Could Say Feel "Dated" Now, and the Ones That Feel So Fresh

Pausing: Lilac

Wearing: Sky Blue

Lilac nails were so popular last year, and I can totally understand why—they're so pretty. As much as we love this pastel shade, this season, there's another vying for our affections.

If you've read our guide to the biggest S/S 24 fashion trends, then you'll know that sky blue is set to be huge this year, so why not get one step ahead and opt for this pretty pastel shade?

Pausing: Frosted Pink

Wearing: Baby Pink

According to the team, we're swapping frosted pink nails for baby pink manicures this season. Don't get me wrong, I love a frosted finish, but as I work on building my capsule wardrobe, there's no denying that baby pink shades will compliment a lot more of my outfits thanks to the soft hue. Plus, this timeless nail colour will never go out of style.

If you want something a bit more fun, why not opt for baby-pink nail art? I love this curved design, and it looks so chic paired with a white shirt and silver jewellery.

Wearing: Chrome

Although '90s fashion trends are making a comeback, that doesn't mean that all of us want glittery nails to return (more power to you if you wear sparkle on the daily!). Instead, we're all about chic chrome finishes to give your nails a little bit of extra pizzazz.

This trend has been seen on the likes of Hailey Bieber and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and if it's good enough for them, then it's definitely good enough for us. I love that it's subtler than chunky glitter designs, as it makes it more wearable on a day to day basis.

Pausing: White

Wearing: White French Tips

I used to wear white nails every single summer, but this year, I'm going to switch things up and try white French tips instead. All of us agree that French tips are back in a big way for 2024, as they fit perfectly with an elevated minimal aesthetic.

I mean, just look at how stunning this manicure is. This trend is perfect for all of the minimalists out there.

Shop the Colour:

Pausing: Neon Shades

Wearing: Neutral Hues

Neon shades look incredible but can be hard to match to, which is why some of our editors will be swerving on them this season. Instead, they're opting for go-with-everything nude polishes. If quiet luxury is your thing, then take note.

To make your nails look as healthy and glossy as possible, opt for a neutral shade that perfectly complements your skin tone.
