I'm a Fashion Editor, and I Wear One of These 5 Items Almost Every Day

As a fashion editor, I spend most of my days looking at hundreds if not thousands of clothing items, accessories, and shoes physically or online. While I find joy in keeping up with the runway shows and collection drops, I have a set of tried-and-true pieces that I'm wearing on repeat. Whether you call them closet staples, basics, or foundational pieces, there's no denying that I wear at least one of these styles every single day.

Since I believe in the power of dressing well and spreading love, I've decided to share my top five go-to closet must-haves ahead. I've detailed what those most worn pieces are below, and I've even included a solid list of gorgeous shopping recs so you can wear them too. Keep scrolling to learn exactly what styles I cannot live without, from a great pair of jeans to fun sneakers. Who knows? Maybe you'll find a new favorite too.

You can't go wrong with a solid pair of jeans. Whether they're straight-leg, bootcut, light, or dark, there's no denying that the all-American fashion staple is a tried-and-true favorite. You can't go wrong with having a solid pair of jeans. Right now, I'm loving the lighter washes the most.

Flat Shoes

As I've gotten older, I reach more for shoes of the non-heeled variety. Loafers are a great option for when you want to look a little more put-together. Ballet flats and Mary Janes have surged in popularity over the last year and are worth giving a shot. Mix and match your favorite flat shoes with cool socks to take a look to the next level.

Versatile Skirt

If you're like me, pants will simply not do on some days. During these times, a versatile skirt can come in handy. I like to experiment with my outfits, so the trick is picking a piece that can be worn across multiple aesthetics. I'm partial to black or even a dark gray, but another neutral hue or fabric would work well too.

Button-Down Shirt

I'm a firm believer in the power of a button-down top. This style of shirt can shape-shift endlessly depending on your styling preferences. Tuck or untuck? Roll up or roll down the sleeves? Tie or untie? The choice is yours. They even make great cover-ups during swimsuit season.

Living in NYC taught me that you can still look cool and ultra-stylish with sneakers on. These days, I reach for slim, soccer-style trainers, but there are so many other styles that are equally as cool. Pick a pair that you gravitate toward the most and you're on you're way. Adidas Sambas and Gazelles are having a big moment right now, but you can't go wrong with the fashion-favorite Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, vintage-feeling Nike Cortez, and athletic Salomon XT-6.
