What Our Fashion Editor Is Buying in the First Month of Winter

The first day of winter signals the true start of a new wardrobe. Out go the slides (for real this time), and in come the sensible closed-toe shoes. While overhauling your entire wardrobe is probably out of the question, by making small additions over the month, you’ll feel prepped for the season ahead. What should be at the top of your list? The perfect coat, a pair of day-to-night leather pants, and a cosy sweater (that won’t pill, moult, or make you itchy).
To help you transition into the coldest months, I’ve been slowly formulating the perfect edit of winter essentials. Keep scrolling to shop the pieces I’m adding to my wardrobe this month.
If you're going to wear enclosed shoes, may as well make them Gucci. This pair did the street style rounds during Fashion Week Australia and I haven't stopped thinking about them. I wear a lot of monochrome, so these will add a much-needed boost of colour to my wardrobe.
Finding a quality pair of leather pants under $1000 is an almost impossible task. Without even meaning to, I stumbled upon the Camilla and Marc leather pants of my dreams. The cropped hem and relaxed silhouette make them the perfect pair of pants to wear from work to drinks.
