This Cleanser Sells Every 12 Seconds Somewhere in the World

There's nothing that makes me want to try a beauty product more than learning that it's sold out. Fickle? Sure. But if an item is flying off the shelves, it must be good, right? There's also the incredibly high chance that it's all hype. Either way, my interest was piqued this week when a press release landed in my inbox filling me in on a K-beauty cleanser that had already sold out twice on Boots, had a list of 9000 people asking for it to be sold in the UK prior to it landing here from Korea, and of which one bottle is sold every 12 seconds globally.

And that isn't the only thing that caught my attention. This cult cleanser has a decidedly unusual ingredients at its core that consumers seem to be going crazy for. Vegans look away—it's egg. Yes, seriously. This sellout cleanser contains egg-white extract. In fact, its inclusion in this cleanser makes the product one of the most antibacterial skincare formulas on the market.

The product in question is Too Cool for School's Egg-Zyme Whipped Foam (£19). A gently exfoliating formula, its the first-ever product in the UK to use lysozyme as its key ingredient—a naturally occuring antibacterial enzyme found in the extract of egg whites. The benefit to your skin? It's a bit of a superstar at removing dead skin cells and unclogging pores for healthier, brighter-looking skin.

Luckily the sellout cleanser is now back in stock and I was lucky enough to get my hands on one to try. The texture is really unusual—the brand has coined it "bubble puzzle technology"—but I'd say it feels a bit like a bouncy shaving foam. I used it for my end-of-day cleanse, and loved how refreshed and clean my skin felt afterwards, without any tightness or dryness. While I think this would work well for all skin types, I have to say that I think you'll particularly love it if you're oily or blemish-prone like me. Trust me—the hype is real.
