Generally speaking, I take a celebrity beauty endorsement with a pinch of salt. I get to try a lot of new beauty products as part of my job and so typically I think that the proof is in the pudding when it comes to working out which ones are worth the hype—and all too often celebs only give a product their seal of approval when they are being paid to do so. As for celebrity beauty brands? Well that’s a rant for a whole other day, but suffice to say A-lister involvement is not a marker of efficacy for me. However, despite everything I have just said, there are a couple of celebrity names that always pique my interest and it just so happens that both of them have given their seal of approval to the product that I’m reviewing today: the Foreo UFO 3 device.

Which is why it's no surprise Alexa Chung shared on Instagram Stories that her makeup artist, Ciara O'Shea, had used the device to prep her skin ahead of a shoot. Similarly, Foreo was backstage at Victoria Beckham for her S/S 19 show with the H2Overdose smart mask to help the models achieve fresh, glowy skin for their bare-faced makeup looks.
For me, the best thing about the Foreo UFO though is how personalised it is. Along with a vast array of masks (there are options for hydrating, purifying, brightening and more) the tool itself links to an app on your phone so that you can really customise the type of LED lights, cryo or thermo therapy and sonic massage that your skin needs every single time you use it.
Is the Foreo UFO worth the money?
All in all, this skincare tool certainly sounds impressive (I'm sure you'll agree), but does it actually deliver? Well, in a word, yes. I have to admit I'm genuinely impressed I've been with this skincare tool. Yes, it's undoubtedly expensive, but I have been hugely surprised at how much brighter my skin looks immediately after using it (it was literally like I'd just had a 30-minute facial) and the LED light therapy felt incredibly soothing. Not only are the visible results impressive, but using the device was simple too: You download an app, scan the mask barcode and the device does the rest.
However, we can't talk about this device without talking about the cost. Parting with £339 is a huge expense and to really get your money's worth for something like this I'd want it to be a tool that I'd use every single day. However, bearing in mind that it needs to be used in conjunction with the dedicated Foreo UFO masks, which vary from £11 to £21 for packs of 6 or 7 masks—it isn't purely a one-off cost that you have to take into account. Personally, this isn't something that I'd use every day because of these expenses, but would think of it are more of a weekly treat or something to use before a special occasion.
Price aside though, Ive tried the UFO in conjunction with the Foreo mattifying masks, glow-boosting treatments and hyaluronic-drenched solutions, and can confirm that my initial experience wasn't just a one-off. Every single time I've used this skincare tool, my complexion has looked better than before—and with continued use, I can only imagine that my skin will thank me.
