An Ode to The Parent Trap's Elizabeth James—29 Chic Items She'd Wear Today

Whenever there was a rerun of Nancy Meyers's reboot of The Parent Trap on TV, my mom and I always sat down together to watch it, even if it had only been a few weeks since our last rewatch. Despite the fact that the movie had come out the year I was born, it became my comfort film. Looking back, the plot was a tiny bit concerning, but it was entertaining nonetheless. Not only did it feature a "second chance at romance" plotline (my favorite after "enemies to lovers"), but it was also chock-full of '90s sartorial goodness. The style essentially tells the story of the film itself. Matching suits, Mary Jane flats, oversize oxford shirts… I could go on.

It seems like the movie still has an effect on culture today, as Meredith Blake style videos have consistently been popping up on my social media feed. While I can appreciate the rich vibes of the film's villain, Elizabeth James's minimal yet luxe style really captured me as a child and still does now. When I let our social media manager know my thoughts on doing this story, she had strong feelings.
