Fashion Editors Can Be Picky, But We Agree on These Fall Denim Must-Haves

When it comes to shopping for jeans, my personal checklist is as follows: I like stiff denim with a vintage feel, a mid-wash (but not too much whiskering), a roomy leg, a slightly raw hemline that hits just below the ankle, and a waist that's pretty much as high as they come. I could go on, but I'll spare you and get to the point.
As I was thinking about my own preferences while prepping my fall wardrobe, I felt compelled to quiz my fellowBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing colleagues about their own picks for fall. In doing so, I realized two things: 1) I'm hardly alone in being picky, and 2) sourcing jeans that meet all of our sartorial wants and needs is a tall order. But I wasn't surprised to discover that we all have one go-to denim brand on rotation: Paige. Below, see our range of picks from vintage-inspired wide-legs to classic black cigarette jeans. Plus, you can shop them all on Anthropologie. No matter your personal style, your next favorite pair is below along with some killer styling tips for the season ahead.
When editor Jasmine Fox-Suliaman saw the curve-friendly fit of these wide-leg, low-rise jeans, it was love at first sight. She's admittedly choosy when it comes to denim, and Paige's Sabine style checked all her boxes. "For this look, I wanted to tap into a more '70s-inspired vibe because I feel that's the era that will define fall fashion," she says. "From shearling coats to relaxed denim to platform boots, so many trends from that era returned on the runway this season, and I styled them together in a way that felt more like 2022. I love this look because it's incredibly comfortable and cute; it's such a simple outfit to replicate for fall."

"I consider myself a pro shopper, but I've always struggled with denim," confides Beauty Director Caitie Schlisserman. "I'm short-ish and have a small waist with hips and a booty. On paper, all of it is great, but in reality, it's hard to find styles that work with my proportions. That's where Paige's hero Genevieve jeans come in. The jeans have a high waist and some stretch, so I knew they would do me well. Plus, the raw hem makes them more cropped, which means they're full length on me."

On the other hand, senior manager Schuyler Youngstrom is all about Paige's Lou Lou high-rise flares. "They've got an incredible stretch with a high-waisted silhouette and subtle flare that hits just about mid-calf." This look she's dreamed up can easily go from day to night thanks to fun layers like her Anthropologie bustier. "To keep the look simple and clean, I added a dainty gold necklace, a couple ultra-thin rings, and gold hoop earrings," she adds. Her pro tip? "When styling high-waisted flares, I recommend tucking in or half-tucking your blouse to achieve an ultra-elongated leg," she says.

Executive Branded Content Director Natalie Cantell has had her eye on these high-rise flares for quite some time now. "This style and fit work for my body shape (curvier hips and a smaller waist), and the little bit of stretch means they're easy to feel comfortable in," she tells me. "This is the kind of look that gets me through those days when I either have a bunch of places to be or just one place to be but I'm not sure what the vibe is. This look—great denim dressed up with some oversize tailoring, effortless, on-trend footwear that has just enough height to feel more than casual, and a luxe structured bucket bag in a mustardy hue—lets everyone know it's finally fall."
