If anyone can set the scene for a new trend in the middle of the season, it has to be Sienna Miller.
Stepping out for lunch in New York accompanied by an equally stylish-looking Jennifer Lawrence, Miller's ensemble caught my attention for a few reasons: her on-trend choices, yes, but also the fact that she chose to wear them with a boot style that's barely had a look in this winter.
This season has seen the moto-inspired biker boot serve as one of the biggest boot trends of the season, and in terms of practicality, it's definitely the main player. But whilst Miller might start trends, she's one celebrity I can always count on to dress for herself and not be dictated to by what people around her are wearing. This is why I wasn't all that surprised to see her reaching for a pair of hiking-style boots instead.
I'd never go as far as to say that hiking boots are unstylish or passé, but it is fair to say they aren't quite as "trendy" as many of their counterparts. But this hasn't deterred brands, nor indeed, Miller. In fact, I've started to notice more and more updated iterations that feature colourful laces, glossy exteriors and undeniably chic silhouettes that make them a breeze.
Wearing hers with the Miro Relaxed Barrel-Shaped Jeans (£340) from Citizens of Humanity, a warm-looking leather jacket, an oversized tote and a beige bucket hat, Miller's outfit tapped into several trends whilst remaining typically relaxed. Taking a break from the straight-leg or baggy jeans that have dominated the wardrobes of fashion people over the past few seasons, she chose a pair of sculptural horseshoe jeans to wear with her chunky lace-up boots.
Hugging the waist before flaring out at the knees and tapering back in towards the ankles, horseshoe jeans have been a huge hit in fashion circles this winter, and with the silhouette populating the spring/summer 2025 runways back in September, suffice it to say we're going to see much, much more of them next year, too.
