Bodysuits! Blazers! Beauty! Alix Earle Told Me the Viral Items She's Buying on Amazon Prime Day
Alix Earle is an It girl. The 23-year-old Gen Z icon has made a name for herself over the last few years thanks to her impeccable TikTok and newly launched podcast, Hot Mess, on Alex Cooper's Unwell media network. What you might not know about Earle, though, is that, at her core, she's just like all of us: frantically packing and Amazon Prime ing items the night before a big trip, hoping they get there in time.
This year, in a natural extension of giving viewers a closer look at her life, the creator teamed up with Amazon Prime Day to debut an exclusive set of deals, each picked out with Earle's stamp of approval—an outward sign, which, most brands will do almost anything to get. Nearly everything the 23-year-old approves goes flying off shelves and sells out within days, if not hours (so much so that the Harvard Business Review created an entire case study dedicated to the star's social virality).
Ahead of the big day, I sat down with Earle to discuss her Amazon Prime Day partnership, and naturally, asked what product she thinks will sell out first. From her favorite hairstyling tool to the going-out tops she can't live without, scroll to hear Alix Earle spill the tea on everything she's saving and stocking up on this Prime Day. Don't forget, the last day of deals for Amazon Prime Day is today, so you don't want to miss these pieces.
Can you tell me a bit about how your Amazon Prime Day partnership came to be?
When I first started posting on social media, I would say most of the content I was posting was around my Amazon storefront and the lists I was creating there. Over the past year and a half, as I grew my following, my audience just loved my Amazon storefront and that was how the "Alix Earle effect" came to be—selling out products on Amazon. I think that was just the start of a great, natural partnership. I've always loved working with Amazon, and of course, I'm a big fan of it as well.
We're such big fans of yours and we're watching all of the fun things you're doing this summer on social media, really traveling and living your best life packing, are you a last-minute packer? Are you the person who's ordering Amazon stuff the night before?
Yes! Anyone who knows me knows I'm a procrastinator. So, Amazon Prime is literally my best friend, especially with traveling. I could not travel anywhere without packing cubes. One thing I almost forgot this summer before traveling to Europe was the charger adapters, so that was something I had to Amazon Prime to get here in time. I'm always ordering different last-minute things for packing or just life in general. For a last-minute photoshoot we did for my podcast, Hot Mess, I decided I wanted to do a lifeguard theme and we ended up ordering all these lifeguard costume gear the day before on Amazon. It's so helpful for me.
You have an exciting, exclusive list of Amazon Prime Day deals, with items from Shopbop and Poppi, and a few other items. Is there a specific one you really can't live without?
If I had to pick one, I would probably say that it's the Dyson Airwrap. I think it's such a great investment. One, It's on the higher side, price-wise, so I think it's an amazing deal to get. Two, I've used mine for so many years and I honestly don't know if I would be able to style my hair without it. It's just such a cheat to be able to do your own hair and blowout. I travel with it everywhere. That would be a number-one deal for me. If I had to choose a second, it would be the Poppi sodas. I'm obsessed with Poppi. It's a great healthy alternative to soda. I think they just taste great and I use them as mixers a lot for my drinks, so they're always stocked up in my fridge.
Are there any other items or summer trends you're stocking up on during Amazon Prime Day?
I have been trying to develop my wardrobe recently, and I've been very into basics and having great basics on hand at all times. There's this one bodysuit I've been wearing a lot that I love. It's the Blake Bodysuit from Pistola. It's so comfy. It's a black bodysuit, so it's easy to wear with anything. I think that's super crucial to have in your closet, and it's also going to be a great deal for Prime Day.
You've spoken about the Alix Earle effect before, and so much has been written about that and your influence in selling things out to your audience who looks up to you for recommendations. I'm curious if there's one item from your Amazon Prime Day storefront or deal that you think will sell out first, what do you think it's going to be?
I just made an outfit video that I will be posting on TikTok trying on some of my favorite clothing items I have from the Shopbop store on Amazon, and I would say maybe the Lioness Blazer will sell out first. It's their La Quinta blazer, it's a nice linen and it's a great staple for summer. I like to wear it with Frame's Le Slim Palazzo jeans. I think they're super comfy. They have more of a loose fit to them. Since I featured those in the video, hopefully, my audience likes my recommendation and those will be the first to sell out.
