I Have an Anti-Trend Approach to Shopping—Here's What's in My Cart

I'm currently sitting next to my air conditioner during a heat wave in New York City. It's 96° outside right now, tomorrow's forecast has a high of 99°, and the only reasonable dress code feels like "as little as possible." Today, I'm wearing a full white outfit made up of a Hanes boys' tank and a swim skirt. If there's ever a season for sticking to the basics, it's summer.

That said, no matter the season, my approach to shopping stays pretty consistent. If it makes me feel like myself, that's what I care about the most—regardless of the trends. Some things I love just happen to be popular right now, but generally, I have a pretty anti-trend way of dressing. If I do go for something that feels more fleeting, it's usually in the form of an affordable accessory since it's lower stakes. Otherwise, I gravitate toward simple staples with an artful twist—pieces that can work between seasons, trends, and moods.

Here's what's in my cart right now.
