I Put Old Navy's $40 Leggings to the Test—Here's My Post-Pilates Review
Discover the best Old Navy activewear below.
I've recently started my fitness journey. The first step: Find cute, affordable workout clothes. But that's proving to be harder than I thought. Until I came across a pair of $40 leggings that look and feel far more expensive. The leggings in question: the Old Navy Powersoft Boundless. IMO, the best activewear promotes movement and comfort without breaking the bank. Bonus if they look cool in a post workout class selfie. These do just that.

The Powersoft Boundless Leggings
Here, I'm wearing the Powersoft Boundless Leggings ($40) and the Powersoft Sports Bra ($30) in Dark Sepia. I've paired them with the Bounce Fleece Bomber Jacket ($55), zipped up halfway, and the Puff Active Tote ($35), which is spacious enough to hold my laptop, charger, wallet, and a change of clothes.
Below, shop the Old Navy leggings that withstood the heat of a 10:30 a.m. reformer class at New York Pilates.

My review: From the moment I stepped into these leggings, I was in love. Old Navy's Powersoft Boundless launch features a sleek construction. The soft-to-the-touch fabrication provides a lifting support without feeling restrictive—I found them perfect for a reformer or mat class.
During my workout, I noted the leggings' functionality: extra-high waist, deep side pockets large enough to hold a phone, and no front seam. Quality and fit deserving of a high price tag, these $40 leggings come in six colorways, from your classic black to the rich-looking Dark Sepia (as shown above), and are available in sizes XS to 4X. As a shopping editor, these thoughtful design choices, pricing, and sizing tell me Old Navy's goal is to provide accessible, functional, comfortable, and affordable activewear. In my editor's opinion, these $40 leggings rival any elite celeb-backed activewear option.
But don't just take my word for it. I asked Sierra Mayhew, WWW fashion editor, to weigh in: "When I first slipped into these leggings I was pleasantly surprised. Since they weren't from an activewear-first brand, my expectations were low, but the quality matched some of the most high-performance brands out there—except the price point is slashed in half, so naturally I was sold."
Size range: XS to 4X
Inseam: Regular 25 inches, petite 23 inches, tall 28 inches
Colors: 6
Sizing tip: I opted for a size small and found they fit true to size.
