While I don't live in New York City anymore, I love visiting to hit up my favorite restaurants, shop, see shows, and, of course, get inspired by the NYC street style. I just got back from a trip, and there were so many stellar looks and items I spotted that I now can't stop thinking about. They're inspiring my own wardrobe and the pieces I select for the content I create.

Below, you'll find the five looks and items I saw everywhere—uptown, downtown, and even in the lobby of my hotel. I stayed at one of Marriott's Luxury Collection properties, and I swear I saw at least five people a day wearing one specific denim silhouette. I should also mention that everything I'm into happens to be shoppable at three go-to retailers: J.Crew, Zara, and Nordstrom. Keep scrolling to check out the items in question along with a plethora of shopping recommendations from this trio of retailers.

Barrel-leg jeans have been trending hard over the last few months. As New Yorkers proved on my trip, the look isn't going away anytime soon. It's such a fresh denim update and brings a cool spin to any look. Wide-leg jeans were also a staple.

Oversize Shirting

Oversize shirts are one of my staples, and I saw them all over New York City paired with everything from short shorts to trousers to skirts.

Maxi Dresses/Skirts

A maxi dress or skirt is effortlessly chic. The look feels modern yet classic at the same time. I saw them styled with flat Mary Janes and ballet flats, in particular.

Red

Burgundy was a huge color trend this fall, but bright red is still popular, as I saw it in everything from separates to shoes to bags.

Sharp Tailoring

I certainly spotted tailoring silhouettes in New York City, specifically structured pieces and tailored blazers.
