I Live in NYC, But Just Got Back From Paris—These Are the 6 Winter Trends I've Spotted in Both Cities
It's like I went abroad and came back with déjà vu.
I spent most of November in Europe having an adventure with my friends, with a stop in Paris solo. It was eye-opening, restful, and filled with chic outfits (from myself and others). Both Paris and NYC are cities known for their stylish residents. Since living in NYC, I can confidently say this city’s style is unmatched, but Paris comes incredibly close. The residents of the “city of love” have an effortlessly chic way of dressing, and NYC, an effortlessly cool way of dressing. I’m into the idea of curating a happy medium in my wardrobe.
While out exploring in Paris, I noticed some winter trends that NYC fashion people also wear, down to the accessories. I was taking note as I’ve been wanting to try some of these trends, and what’s a better place to take a sign than in Paris? These winter trends have a timeless energy to them that I’ll always appreciate.

Knit Hoods

It was freezing in Paris, and now that I’m back in NYC, it’s even colder. To stay warm in the city without too many layers, a knit hood is the best route. I love them styled with a coat.
Fur Coats
I thrifted a vintage fur coat a few years ago in NYC, and while in Paris, it was apparent that this is a staple in the Parisian wardrobe. It’s the easiest piece to elevate the most basic of outfits.

Tabi Flats
Tabis are huge in NYC, and I’m guilty of having one myself. I bought my pair second-hand at a closet sale. Walking around and noticing how many girlies I matched with was so fun, even with the language barrier, we all spoke fashion.

Slouchy Leather Bags
The year of the slouchy bag is still going strong. I’ve always been a fan of the silhouette in NYC, and seeing it in Paris just solidified the fact that it’s a mainstay in every fashion person’s wardrobe.

Long Leather Gloves
Long leather gloves are such a dramatic, fashionable piece to elevate an outfit. They were styled in Paris with fur coats, and it was a lovely mix of textures. I definitely took inspiration from that when I came back to New York.

Fur Scarves
A fur scarf is an accessory that I’ve never thought to purchase, but this trend is going so strong on Instagram and IRL, especially in both cities. I’ve seen simple coats and fur scarves paired together so stylishly.
