What I Buy From Stores I Loved in My 20s Now That I'm 35
I think that if you asked my mom, she'd probably say that I don't dress my age, but now that I'm 35, my shopping habits have changed significantly from when I was in my 20s. That said, many of the stores I shop today are ones I started shopping in my 20s. My shopping carts just look a little different now.
In my 20s, my closet was filled with miniskirts, denim jackets, skinny jeans, and trendy going-out dresses and tops. Now, I shop for pieces with more longevity, choosing quality over quantity. I don't shop for specific events and occasions anymore because those are usually the pieces I only wear a couple of times. The sites I've been shopping for years have the variety that suits both my 20-something and 30-something selves (i.e., chic double-breasted blazers mixed in with the trendy party dresses).
Keep scrolling to find out which stores I've been shopping for years, and what I'm buying from them in my mid-30s.
H&M
The budget-friendly prices are what got me hooked on H&M during my 20s, and the trend-driven pieces are what's kept me coming back. It's often where I turn when I want to try a trend but don't want to spend a lot on it. In particular, I love its blazers, dresses, denim, and shoes.
Madewell
I can still remember my very first Madewell purchase. I was probably 23 or 24 and it was a sparkly double-breasted blazer. I still have it. These days, I'm a huge fan of Madewell's denim, outerwear, pretty tops, and sweaters. You can always count on the brand for comfortable, classic-leaning wearable takes on the given season's trends.
Revolve
Revolve's wide variety of brands (both in-house and not) makes it an easy inclusion on this list. I regularly shop the site for activewear, beauty products, fun dresses, jeans (seems to be a running theme with me), and pretty tops. I rarely don't find what I'm looking for on Revolve.
Reformation
I pride myself on being one of Reformation's first shoppers. I probably placed more Reformation orders in my 20s than I did on any other site. Obviously, it's a go-to for pretty dresses for weddings, vacations, and summer in general, but its inventory has expanded extensively over the years, with the addition of denim, shoes, swimwear, and much more. I happily embrace all of it. These days, as I only need so many dresses, I shop Ref for outerwear and blazers, cute tops, denim, and midi skirts.
Topshop
I've always loved the British girl aesthetic, and no affordable site (that's available in the U.S., at least) does it better than Topshop. Many of even the most affordable Topshop shoes look designer, and there's no better source for printed midi dresses and silky slip skirts.
Urban Outfitters
Like Revolve, Urban Outfitter's variety of brands means that there's something for everyone. I often rave about how good its in-house UO brand T-shirts are, and its sneaker and athleisure selection is tough to beat. (Also, don't sleep on the shoe section, in general.)
Zara
You don't think I'd wrap things up without including Zara, did you? I'm pretty sure I'll still be placing Zara orders in my 50s. Even as my style evolves, I'm never lacking in pieces to add to my wardrobe from Zara. Suiting, shoes, dresses, and knitwear are some of my favorite categories to shop at the moment.
