A Fringe Is the Chicest Way to Elevate Your Bob This Autumn—This Expert Agrees

We all know that bob hairstyles are having a moment right now, with everything from the French bob to the box bob trending on social media. However, there's one style that I've been seeing everywhere, and I think it's seriously chic. That's right, I'm talking about the fringed-bob hairstyle. I don't know what it is about a fringe, but I think it instantly elevates any look. Pair it with a bob and you've got a winning combination this autumn.

It seems I'm not the only one who is obsessed with this style, as I spoke to Jordanna Cobella, Wella's official colour and trend ambassador, who confirmed that this hairstyle is having a revival. Keep on scrolling for everything you need to know...

What Is The Fringed-Bob Hairstyle?

Simply put, this trending hairstyle that we are seeing everywhere involves a more blunt bob and a statement fringe to match. "This look has a Parisienne attitude and a feminine silhouette," says Cobella. "The fringe really exposes the eyebrows and eyes and highlights facial features in a beautiful way."

Which Bobs Do Fringes Work Best With?

Just because we're seeing a fringe on blunt bobs everywhere, doesn't mean that it can't work with lots of different styles. However, there's a tip that Cobella recommends when giving this style a go. "If you've got a bob, your fringe is best worn disconnected from the rest of the haircut [i.e., you don't want to blend your fringe into your bob] so that the sharp corner of the bob is not compromised. This is the focal part of the haircut and a fringe should only enhance, not take away from the corner."

How to Style a Bob With a Fringe:

"When it comes to styling, it all depends on your face shape," says Cobella. If you're unsure how to style your fringe, I recommend speaking to your hairdresser to see what they think will suit you best. However, no matter what fringe you have, Cobella recommends wearing your fringed-bob cut with a slight bend or a natural wave for that "effortless" look that will have people thinking you simply woke up like that.

This is giving us serious French-girl vibes. If you want to achieve this look, add in some tousled waves for that undone finish.

Emma Stone recently wore a chic updo with a sweeping side fringe, proving that bobs can look great worn both up and down.
