From H&M to Arket, This "Boring" Winter Basic Is Suddenly Everywhere

Of all the winter items trending at the moment, I think my favourite has to be one of the most humble I've spotted for a few years now. Void of flashy colours or extravagant designs, this season all I'm pining for is a simple (you could argue "boring") grey cardigan2024's new-season grey cardigans vary from light grey tones to dark slate, but most I've seen feature a classic crew-neck cut and fall to the top of the hip for a fresh and modern finish. What surprised me most was just how many cardigans I found like this when I started looking, and all the best styles seemed to come from the high street. From H&M to Arket and Zara to Other Stories, every affordable brand has its version—all you need to do is choose your favourite.

Whilst I'm yet to learn the origin of hers, I did spot Hailey Bieber styling the simple wardrobe staple at a basketball game in L.A., just as I was contemplating buying one for myself. A sign? She wore hers with light-wash jeans, a grey baseball cap and black kitten heels, completing the casual outfit with a leather trench coat to match with best friend Kendall Jenner.

The grey colour trend has been on the rise this season for its easy-to-style nature and outfit-elevating abilities. Styling well with wintery hues such as black, white, silver and all shades of denim, the frosty colour has become a go-to amongst celebrities and influencers alike. Whilst grey cardigans look chic styled with blue denim and a white tee, the new-season trend comes into its own when worn with a black leather midi skirt or a structured wool skirt. Complete the fresh ensemble with grey wool tights and sleek kitten heels for a new-season look you'll wear on repeat.
