Proof That This Trend Didn't Die in 2019
Remember the Golden Globes? I’m kidding, of course you do. The unofficial kickoff to award season took place just a few nights ago and brought with it full news cycle’s worth of entertainment, red carpet fashion, politics, social statements, beauty, and endless articles, tweets, and Instagram posts by people just like me and publishers just like Who What Wear about all of the above and more.
With that said, you can imagine my surprise that evening when, through all of the noise, I found myself coming across the same photo over and over of an actress I admittedly had never heard of—I guess I should start watching Outlander? I’m, of course, referring to Caitriona Balfe. Did you see her photo too? Most often, a close-up showing off her of-the-moment and envy-inducing embellished hairpins that seemed to drive the fashion and beauty worlds to the brink? I did. All over social media and countless websites throughout the night and following day. To say she stole the show might be overstating things (plus, we all know that the person who really did that was Sandra Oh’s adorable father), but it did get me thinking: The hair accessory trend is going nowhere in 2020.
Hairpins, clips, barrettes, bobby pins, and more only seem to be gaining steam in the New Year, and I, for one, am very happy about it because as I’ve expressed to the office multiple times in the last 48 hours, I’ve yet to buy any of them. So, in the name of research, and a little fun, I’ve rounded up the best hair accessories of the moment below for us all to shop, wear, and enjoy.
Up next? The unlikely winter trend that's stolen my heart.
