Yes, You CAN Wear Velvet Year-Round… and We Have Proof

Velvet is without a doubt the most popular trend of the season. We’ve spotted the luxe fabric everywhere as of late: on the runways of designers like Alberta Ferretti and Giorgio Armani and on the shelves of our favorite high-street retailers. But despite its ubiquity, we realize the soft, shimmery fabric can feel intimidating to pull off IRL—especially during the day.

For this reason, we’ve been keeping our eye on our favorite street style stars and bloggers for inspiration on styling the ’70s-esque trend, and we’ve found a wide range of wearable outfits that are actually super easy to re-create. One of our favorite looks we’ve come across is by blogger Sara Azani of Style MBA, who took a velvet slip dress from our Who What Wear collection and made its sultry aesthetic feel totally daytime-appropriate.

Azani’s tip to make the dress brunch-ready is to layer a 3/4-sleeve tee underneath it. Then add a pair of statement boots and accessorize with a classic bag. The cherry on top? An indelible pink leather jacket that just screams sunny days. Ready to pick up the dress?
