I can't help it—I'm a total sucker for a classic red manicure. I think that red should be considered a neutral in the realm of nail polish. It goes with everything, always looks sophisticated, and will never go out of style.

Jennifer Lopez is never afraid to take risks when it comes to her nails (she's been known to sport long nails with abstract designs and glitter before), but she's also partial to baby pinks and nudes. She rarely opts for red, so when I saw her most recent manicure at the Ralph Lauren S/S 23 show, I was immediately obsessed.

Instead of a pure red, the singer went for a more toned-down burgundy nail color. It's still eye-catching while being a bit more subdued than fire-engine red. In a press release, celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik shared that he chose the color because J.Lo's hair and makeup were kept classic and minimal. "Nails needed to complete the look," he says. "We went with Essie's Bordeaux to do just that! Short, strong, natural-shaped nails help the color pop." Keep reading to see the exact products he used to achieve J.Lo's striking red nails.
