Street Style Outfits Can Be Silly, But I'll Actually Wear These 9 Denim Looks
I love dressing up for a fashion event, but I’ll be the first to admit that the outfits you see outside the shows at fashion week (wherever the city) can get a little ridiculous. I once saw someone wearing an actual wetsuit on the front row, complete with goggles. Street style images can often provide lots of playful—albeit sometimes bonkers—styling ideas, but let’s be honest: Many are things that just wouldn’t translate out of this outfit circus. But this year, I’ve been impressed by quite how simple people have kept it. Yes, I’m sure if you look hard enough you’ll find a wetsuit somewhere or at the very least an outfit that would cause a commotion in your local Pret, but this year, there are more jeans than "WTF" outfits.
There are several denim outfits, in particular, that have stood out to me among the street style images. They all revolve around the same basic and a classic pair of blue jeans (mainly straight-legs), but the items they’re paired with really make an impact. So if you are in the market for new ways to wear your old jeans, keep scrolling for the outfits I've saved to try this year.
Style Notes: Camille pairs a trench coat with simple slightly flared jeans but adds personality with her chunky heels and a printed scarf.
Style Notes: A leather blazer is one of the trending items of 2020, and here, Linda Tol doubles up on the leather with a bustier underneath.
Style Notes: We told you leather was trending, and this single-breasted coat looks like a work of art thanks to those brushstrokes.
Style Notes: The cardigan has had a sexy makeover this year thanks to Miu Miu, where cardigans were worn off the shoulder. Lisa Aiken shows the coolest way to wear one is with denim in 2020.
Style Notes: Who knew a belt could make such a difference to an outfit? The thin black belt worn over a cardigan looks really impactful.
Style Notes: This green floral dress tucked into the waistband of jeans gets a big thumbs up from me.
Style Notes: The green! The pink! The quilting! Use denim as your base and play with colour and texture as seen here in Copenhagen.
Style Notes: Now, this is my favourite denim outfit I’ve seen. The white shirt, the brown leather blazer, the caramel-hued scarf… perfection.
Style Notes: These jeans have a real ’90s feel to them. The leather bomber jacket really adds to the girl-band vibe.
