5 Trends That Will Still Be in Style for at Least Another Year
Whether you’re looking to invest big in designer duds, prefer scoring deals during the end-of-the-year sales, or are simply cleaning out your closet for a fresh start in 2020, it’s helpful to know what trends are on their way out and which have some staying power. Conveniently, today we’re here to focus on the latter, as I recently took some time to think about the current trends I can imagine myself wearing one year from now, and I figured why not share?
Much to my (pleasant) surprise, there were actually quite a few contenders, but there were five in particular that I felt strongly about not giving up. There’s a good chance they’re already in your closet (as they’re heavily represented in mine), but in case they’re not, you can rest assured about buying them at this point in the game. To see, read about, and, of course, shop the five fads that made the cut, just keep scrolling.
Leather
Why would we ever let go of such a luxe-looking trend? Leather everything will only continue to gain steam in the New Year.
Shop:
Square-Toe Shoes
Boots, pumps, sandals, you name it—any shoe with a square toe is going to look as forward next year as it did in 2019.
Shop:
Suiting
As long as brands keep reinventing them and fashion girls keep finding new ways to style them, suits and suiting separates are sticking around.
Shop:
Pearls
It seems that pearl-embellished clothing is just so irresistible that no one is ready to retire it quite yet, and personally, I'm very happy about it.
Shop:
Animal Prints
The animal-print resurgence isn't ready to go quite yet, so feel free to keep your snake, leopard, and zebra prints in your closet throughout the next year.
Shop:
Up next: every winter trend and basic you need, all under $100.
Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here atBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing , and she is currently Editor-at-Large. Upon joining, she was a senior about to graduate from business school at USC. Fast-forward to 2025, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was just starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content and her Trust Me—Buy This newsletter. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to neutral, classic pieces but will always make an exception for something colorful or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a party is dressing up for one. On her downtime, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious and trying to force her husband to watch Summer House.
