This Controversial '80s Nail Trend Is Back, and We're Not Complaining
Sure, there are a lot of '80s beauty trends that we think are better left in the past. But we've been seeing some '80s-inspired trends that actually look like they fit right in for these modern times. Blue eye shadow can be done in a way that doesn't look like you've time-traveled. People aren't afraid to wear a bold lip in a bright color. And heck, the mullet is even updated for the 21st century. You might feel moved to ask for business in the front, party in the back during your next haircut.
But if you're not quite ready to rock a mullet aren't sold on these makeup trends coming back, there's a way that you can experiment and ease into it. A low-lift way to pay homage to the '80s is with neon nails.
Adding just this pop of color to your nails can be fun, and you don't have to commit at all if you hate it. Give it a try, I say! For me, just looking down at brightly colored nails can make me smile and add a little pep to my step, so to speak. And rocking a fresh manicure can be a confidence boost.
If you're looking to experiment the next time you do your nails, take a look at some of our favorite neon polishes.
1. Yellow
Why not start strong with a bright but not blinding neon yellow? First of all, yellow is such an underrated polish color. Secondly, this one is definitely for those who want to stand out.
2. Green
Another classic neon color, green is super vibrant. If you don't want to do something fluorescent, you can also opt for a lime green for a similar vibe.
3. Pink
I mean, pink was big in the '80s, so how can you go wrong with hot-pink nails? It's super fun, playful, and feminine.
4. Purple
Don't sleep on neon purple. And if you really want to take it to the next level, you can choose a polish with some major sparkle.
5. Blue
When it comes to blue neon nails, you can go with the traditional shade, but you've got other options here, too. Try electric blue or a super-bold turquoise.
6. Orange
Neon orange is a lot of fun for summer, but also, it's a lot of fun for times when you're missing summer. It's fiery and bold—give it a try sometime.
