The New York Fashion Week Starter Pack: 7 Things You're About to See Everywhere

Welcome to the Starter Pack series, aBest Knockoff Luxury Clothing column that dives deep into the seasonal trends everyone’s talking about. Let’s move on to one of the biggest events of the year (in our eyes, at least)…

New York Fashion Week is somehow here again. As an editor attending, I am still struggling with what to wear for the Super Bowl of fashion, so I decided to break down the trends I know will be home runs come the big event. While the trends ahead are merely scratching the surface of all the forward-thinking styling tricks, up-and-coming designers, and breakthrough It pieces, they are ones that have already been spotted on New York fashion girls and international fashion weeks combined.

Below, I present to you the ultimate NYFW starter kit. Animal prints, crafty handbags, and everything in between can be found shopped out for you here, whether you plan on sitting front row or are looking forward to following along on social media. Purchase some of the trends ahead and you’ll be strutting along with some of the stylish women in NY in no time.

We've said it once, and we'll say it again: Animal print is the trend to be seen in this fall but, more imminently, this fashion week. Whether it be flaunted via accessories or outerwear, animal print will be on every other editor you pass by on the street this week.

An odd trend? Yes. A practical one? Also yes. While jetting from show to show, editors have taken a liking to the comfort of gym shorts. Paired them with everything from blazers to heels, this athleisure trend is one we definitely didn't see coming but are definitely here for.

The footwear trend you're about to see everywhere from New York to Milan is cowboy boots. If the traditional kind isn't necessarily your thing, fear not, for designers have been churning out more-modernized styles that we are equally obsessed with.

Dresses your mom used to wear in the '80s, nightgowns—you name it—dresses this season are bigger, they're better, and they're inspired by our elders.

Artsy doesn't even begin to cut it when it comes to this bag trend. Between the multicolored beads, intricate weaving, and vintage-sources fabrics, carryalls have officially reached peak status.

Fashion girls love an impractical trend or two, and this one takes the cake for summer 2018. When the temperatures are sweltering but you have that itch to throw on one more layer, sling a cardigan or a sweater over your shoulders or crossbody for that third piece your outfit desperately needs.

We thought we might see the demise of bike shorts, but after Copenhagen and Stockholm fashion weeks proved otherwise, we are 100% certain NY editors will be rocking the cycling-inspired style all week long.
