When it comes to fashion, let’s face it—Parisians do it best. They basically wrote the book on effortlessly chic style and have totally mastered having a versatile cool-girl wardrobe. So naturally, when looking for fashion inspiration, I turned to some of my favorite and most fashionable French girls’ Instagram accounts to take notes from the best. Throughout my search on how to have a French-girl summer, I noticed five simple items that kept showing up.

Tailored shorts paired with bodysuits and simple tank tops, basic body-con dresses you can wear anywhere, loose trousers, very mini miniskirts, and ’90s-inspired vintage sunglasses seem to be in the closets of every fashion-loving Parisian. Of course, I had to find some of the best examples of these items at my favorite retailers and make a list of my top 30 buys.

Tailored Shorts

The French-girl summer staple. I’d wear these chic shorts with a ribbed tank, sleek mules, and a classic black leather belt. Très chic!

Basic Body-Con Dress

You really can never go wrong with a basic body-con dress. As you can pair it with sneakers to run errands or throw it on with heeled sandals for a dinner date, this dress is an absolute must-have.

Loose Trousers

These are the ultimate cool-girl pants. I have seen loose trousers on all of my favorite It girls styled in so many different ways. I actually wore a pair of these with a tube top last night, and let me tell you—I’ve never felt cooler.

Miniskirt

This summer, the micro miniskirt reigns supreme. I love everything about the miniskirt trend because it’s another great look that can go from day to night—just in time for the warm-weather months.

’90s-Inspired Sunglasses

All hail the vintage sunglasses. I’m not sure when we all collectively decided that vintage sunglasses are just cooler than all of the rest, but I’m here for it. Personally, I love all things ’90s, so I’m not complaining.
