21 Pleated Miniskirts I Want to Shop Thanks to the Viral Miu Miu One
Unless you live under a rock, you've likely seen the Miu Miu skirt I'm talking about at least once. Although, if you're a person who considers themselves to be very online (like myself), you've mentally cataloged every last cameo this skirt has made and even followed the account dedicated to chronicling its rise, @miumiuset. Since the moment the skirts glided down Miu Miu's spring/summer runway in Paris last October, they've appeared on celebs such as Zendaya, Nicole Kidman, and Hailey Bieber; popped up on a number of magazine covers; and, of course, littered the street style scene (and Instagram) during fashion week.
The micro miniskirt is marking its grand return this season, and Miu Miu's take might be the most noteworthy yet. The brand paired the low-rise pleated miniskirts with preppy staples like loafers and cable-knit sweaters with a decidedly risqué spin. If you went to high school or middle school in the early aughts, then the teenier-than-thou silhouettes might bring back some strong emotions. While I was initially shocked at their return, I've since come around to the idea after seeing how fashion people are styling them.
Ahead, shop the pleated miniskirts I'm eyeing now that the viral Miu Miu collection lives rent-free in my head.
On the runway:
This is one of the original runway looks from the Miu Miu S/S 22 collection. Some of the key details are the cutoff raw hem and ultra-low-rise fit.
The brand introduced several iterations of its now-iconic miniskirt, but the belted khaki-hued version has proven to be the most influential.
In my cart:
Show off the waistband of your lingerie if you really want to re-create the runway look.
This one will have you channeling Olivia Rodrigo and Kourtney Kardashian.
This is giving me grown-up school uniform.
Miu Miu may have popularized the style, but brands such as Dion Lee have been putting their own spin on pleated minis for a minute now.
