Simply utter Sarah Jessica Parker's name and immediately you think about Carrie Bradshaw and Sex and the City. It's something that will never go away, such is the impact the '90s show has had, and continues to have, on a generation of women and their wardrobes. While SJP might have moved on to other roles, such as her most recent in new show Divorce, and jobs, she also created a line of shoes, the actress is still happy to chat all things SATC.
In an interview with Net-a-Porter's magazine The Edit, Parker discussed her one regret about the show, and what she wished she'd done at the time. And yes, of course, it's shoe-related.
In the interview, Parker said that she should have taken more pictures. "I should have photographed every fitting of Sex and the City; every shoe I ever tried on anywhere in the world ever! I should have shot those experiences, but I didn’t want to intrude on it or ask, ‘Do you mind if I take your picture?’ Or, ‘Do you mind if I document this?’ Oh, I should have taken more pictures."
If we'd had the chance to wear the kind of clothes that Parker had in SATC, we'd probably be feeling the same right now…
On a more positive note, the star also talked about her shoe line and why she eventually decided to put her name to a label and create a footwear collection. While she had numerous offers about a shoe line, she only wanted to work with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus III. And although she didn't think he'd say yes, once she asked, he told her to be in his office the next day at 9 a.m.
On her eponymous shoe collection, she defended the price point, saying that she couldn't offer women a less expensive shoe as she knew they'd be more likely to break, and she didn't want that.
"How could I ask anybody for their hard-earned dollars, even £55, if they would have to replace the shoes in two months anyway?"
