The Free New Styling Trick Every London Girl Will Try Tomorrow

There's wearing a coat and there's the Simone Rocha way of wearing a coat. Sure, you're au fait with shoulder-robing. And the spectrum of slight-to-total jacket and coat shrugging can be recreated on demand. New York's front row crowd proved that to be en pointe one must be ready to shed things off, so that's why we can predict with great certainty that the manner in which Simone Rocha's glorious SS17 show was styled will be picked up within no time by the city's ever-watchful, ever-experimental crowd.

Keep scrolling to see just how Simone Rocha styled her coats and jackets for her show at London Fashion Week.

The blown-out proportions of her balloon-sleeved cotton trench or tweed coats were made all the more interesting slung onto one shoulder and through one army only, then fastened in placed with the outerwear's belt cinched neatly at the waist: it provided 360° outfit interest.

The cover-ups—just like her intricately embroidered, layered and maze-like tulle dresses—were dishevelled in the daintiest way possible, so why wouldn't you want to showcase two killer pieces at once? This styling trick enables such peacocking, and provides a more viable option for day-to-day life too: shoulder-robing with a clutch bag, phone and takeaway coffee is nigh on impossible, we admit.

Other takeouts from this romantic runway, set in the hallowed walkways of Southwark Cathedral, included a very posh take on Wellington boots, twisted, flower-dotted dresses that fluttered around the body in all their gossamer-light glory (and will no doubt be worn over denim by cool women ASAP), sparkling crystal jewellery set against wet-look, roughed up hair, and an entire series of final looks in balletic Elastoplast-nude tones, proving that pretty colour palette is sticking(!) around for some time.
