It's Official: Everyone Is Wearing This Trend

The best sorts of trends are those that can easily adapt to your wardrobe. They don’t require a heavy hand in the piggy bank, and they force you to reframe the way you see your closet. The last few months, we’ve seen one glorious trend emerge that checks off all of these boxes, and it shows no signs of slowing down, either. Can you guess what it is?
It’s the slip dress and-shirt combination, of course! This simple yet effective layering formula is literally all over the street style circuit and has even trickled onto some major catwalks for fall, like Proenza Schouler and Valentino. What makes this look so great is that the combinations are virtually endless. You can mix and match your dresses with cool blouses, shirts, and tees. Also, even if you don’t own a slip dress per se, you can still make the look work with just about any sleeveless frock in your closet.
See below for major inspiration (and we mean major), and then shop our slip dress picks to test out the trend.
A lace slip feels modern paired with a simple white tee.
Gilda Ambrosio’s scene-stealing sequined gown looks even cooler with her striped blouse layered underneath.
If you have a dress that’s too low cut to wear alone, consider this trend the solution to your dilemma.
Bet you haven’t thought of wearing a fishnet top like this before.
