Spring's Biggest Makeup Trends Are So Easy to Execute, and I'm Living Proof

Is it just me, or is spring the best season for new makeup trends? Every year, spring’s arrival comes with dreamy makeup looks that completely transform the way I think about makeup. Maybe it’s because the weather is starting to get a bit warmer and the promise of sunshine after 5 p.m. is on the horizon, but spring makeup always feels hopeful, playful, and fresh. 

This year’s trends did not disappoint. After speaking with celebrity makeup artists who gave me the lowdown on spring 2022’s hottest trends, I decided to try my favorites for myself. Even though some of them seemed daunting (two-toned eyeshadow?) I ended up with approachable looks that I hope you try for yourself—they’re much easier than you might think. Keep reading to see my favorite trends and how I executed them at home. 

The Look: Two-Toned Eye Shadow

My take:

My verdict: I thought I would really dislike two-toned makeup on myself, but I am actually way more into it than I thought. I would do do this look for a fun night out. I loved using Beautycounter's cream shadow for this look—it's easy to blend and also applies really precisely if you want it to.

The Look: No-Makeup Makeup

My take:

My verdict: I live in no-makeup makeup basically every day, so I'm happy that the trend is going strong. Using tinted moisturizer is my preference because it hydrates my skin and provides coverage, but also lets my freckles shine through.

The Look: Monochrome

My take:

My verdict: Monochrome makeup is the best for an effortless yet polished look. My go-to is swiping Westman Atelier's blush stick everywhere and using Glow Screen as a base for dewy, lit-from-within skin.

The Look: Bold Lips

My take:

My verdict: After masking for so long, I've been itching for a bold lip moment, so I'm happy that bright lips are trending. For this look, I took a cue from my editor Erin Jahns and used Mario Dedivanovic's lip lift hack, which helped me get naturally full-looking lips.

The Look: Lip gloss

My take:

My verdict: Who doesn't love a gloss moment? I grew up in the early 2000s, and I always had Lip Smackers gloss on a keychain. Ilia's Balmy Gloss is a lip oil-gloss hybrid that offers a ton of moisture while giving incredible shine.
