All the Fashion Girls Are Wearing This Leggings-Pants Hybrid

Though we’ve traditionally associated stirrup pants with equestrian dress and ’80s workout attire (hello, Jane Fonda), these athletic bottoms have once again made their way into the spotlight. Runway brands like Balenciaga and Marni debuted iterations in their F/W 16 shows, and contemporary favorites like Totême are also endorsing the trend this season. And while it’s necessary to have notable designers on board, the true test of a trend’s staying power is whether or not it becomes a hit with the street style set—and a hit it has most certainly become.

This past fashion month, we were left with jaws wide open at the amount of women traipsing around in stirrup pants. From denim to tartan to solid blacks and emerald greens, these trousers were a major hit with the likes of Pernille Teisbaek and Gilda Ambrosio.

See below for ways to wear this trend, and if you want to snag a pair for yourself, shop our picks.

Gaia Repossi took a blazer-and-jeans ensemble to another level with the introduction of a stirrup detail. Oh, and those PVC heels are a pretty amazing addition too.

Accentuate your heels by fastening stirrup pants around them. Thanks for the tip, Pernille Teisbaek.
