Stylish Boots to Get You Through Inclement Weather
With summer coming to a close (unless you’re lucky enough to live in a perennially sunny locale), it’s finally time to retire your block-heel sandals and pull out your go-to boots. While you may already have a few must-have styles (think classic black booties), a pair that’s just as chic but also can also withstand unpredictable weather (e.g., rain and snow) is an absolute must.
What are the styles some of the coolest fashion people are investing in this season? Bloggers Tania Sarin and Eric Christian (who also happen to be a couple) are fans of Aquatalia, the luxury Italian shoe company known for marrying high design with weatherproof and stain-resistant materials. “I always tend to ruin my beautiful suede boots when I come out to New York, so I’m excited to rock the brand’s boots in the snow this season and not worry about the suede getting damaged,” says Sarin, who has styled music videos for Janelle Monáe and Fall Out Boy, and has almost 200,000 followers on Instagram.
Christian—a photographer for clients like Vince, Bentley Motors, and W Hotels—is also a fan of the brand. “Aquatalia boots not only work for any occasion, they’re also completely weatherproof, which is perfect for the unpredictable New York weather. You won’t need to worry about being caught in the rain,” he says. Interested in learning how they’re wearing their favorite weatherproof boots this season? Keep scrolling to see how the pair styled their Aquatalia boots on a recent crisp fall day in the West Village. Plus, shop their go-to picks, too.
"Weatherproofing and durability are extremely important when it comes to shoes in an urban environment, which is why I love these boots," Sarin says. "Plus, the stunning oxblood color is the perfect tone for the fall and winter and the tassels give the boots an elevated sophisticated look." Pair them with a high-waisted mini-skirt and blouse for a day-to-night outfit.
"The weather in New York is completely unpredictable, and can go from sun to showers in minutes and completely destroy whatever shoes you may be wearing," Christian says. "A solid pair of black leather boots are always in style and these ones won't get ruined, even with all of the walking I do in the city." Tell your S.O. to wear them with cuffed denim for a casual but edgy ensemble.
